Good Pitch and Putt 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 6, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Shamona Main 9 is a decent pitch n' putt by design but is scarcely more. You drive into a nice park with a very long driveway coming in.

The best hole is the first hole, downhill and sharp to the left, although there is a staight gap to punch though if you want to try. It's a bit of an early climax, although #7 is a bit similar to the right and with a tree line. #2 uphill was also solid.

The wooden tee posts have the hole diagrams painted on them pretty faithfully and is just as well, as #3, #4, and #5 baskets are a bit hidden from view by trees or an elevation hump.

Likewise, the baskets were excellent catchers, Latitude64 ProBasket Competition. They'll last for many years to come.

I see no major issue using this park to learn the game although it requires more control than is typical at this level.

Cons:

The biggest issue is that Udisc routed me to a nearby but completely wrong subdivision on Broodwood Dr several minutes away. You're better off searching "LYA Shamona Main Field" in google maps.

There are no fatal errors here, the main downside is it's a perimeter course, around a baseball field. It's part and parcel of the park but still impacts it. That makes some of the holes from #3-5, 9 feel a bit more claustophobic than need be, especially when brushing up against the fence.

#3-4 feel like fraternal twins. Not identical but nearly so.

The course plays into itself with the entirety of #8 being between basket 5 and tee 6.

The short rubber tees are slippery with any wetness.

-No amenities.

Other Thoughts:

Out of OOOOO discs or XXXXX strikes:

Terrain: OO - Reasonable. It plays off a hillsides with some flat in the middle, it's tempered by the fact it's around a fenced baseball field that knocks it down a star.
Execution: OO - Decent but typical. Nice signs.
Upkeep: OOOO - Good but it's new.
Difficulty: Oo - Beginner but with some finesse required on #1/7.
Fun Factor: OO - It will be good for beginners if the park is not crowded.
Crowded: XXx - On sunday afternoon, I hit two other player groups but I suspect it's less crowded otherwise. The main concern is whether other activities like baseball restrict play.
Overall: OO - A reasonable course to learn the game.
