Pros:
-Baskets are unique and well-made. All baskets were done by a welding class at a local technical college.
-Fairways are cut out and most holes have a fair line.
-This course plays so quickly that you could easily get a round in on lunch break.
-Low course traffic means no waiting on tee pads.
-Taylors Mill is very easy to navigate by following the spray paint.
-All tee pads are concrete with a yellow stripe indicating the front of the box.
Cons:
-The designer of this course got too happy with mandos as there are mandos on every hole except holes 3, 8, and 9. All of these mandos are unnecessary as they arbitrarily add difficulty and are not being used to protect a certain area or another fairway. The double mando on hole 7 is the worst because it is not lined up with the tee pad and is way too tight.
-All baskets have single chains which are too tight and cause some putts to bounce off rather than catching. A second set of outer chains are needed.
-Holes are too short and the course can be played entirely with a putter.
-Hole 2 has lots of construction debris (Old concrete, wood, chain link fence, rebar, nails, etc.) from the mill in the fairway that could be harmful.
-Lots of briars in the rough. Wear long pants!
Other Thoughts:
Overall, this is an interesting, short course that has plenty of potential. I wish there were some holes where you could air it out and I wish there were fewer unnecessary mandos. The baskets are not perfect, but catch ok. This course could be better if expanded to 18 and had some longer holes. Overall, this course has the fun factor, but lacks a real challenge and will leave experienced players wanting more.
