Good course that could be great 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 2, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Good variety of shots required (majority RHBH but several pretty obvious forehand and turnover tee shots)
- Nice mix of shorter to mid-length holes with both technical and more open shots
- Most fairways pretty well-manicured and defined
- Course was quite pretty; nice hike through a mix of open clearings and pine forest
- Logical course flow that starts and loops back close to parking lot
- Newly installed turf tee pads on holes 1-7
- For a wooded course, there were surprisingly few bugs!

Cons:

- Signage severely lacking; no course map or tee signs at all yet (using the UDisc map is basically required right now, but with that it's pretty easy to follow)
- Some holes require backtracking the fairway to get to the next tee
- Permanent tees yet to be installed on holes 8-18
- Mostly permanent baskets, but some holes still have temp baskets
- Almost no elevation change so a lack a variety in that regard
- Weeds in the rough are pretty bad; chance for lost discs is high
- Wastewater treatment facility right next door makes a few holes smelly
- Limited parking (if the dog park or the course are busy, it's gonna get full really fast)

Other Thoughts:

- This course is just going to get better and better. Only 2 years old and recently expanded from 9 to 18 holes. Turf tee pads were in process of being installed (1-7 looked brand new and turf and frame were waiting on the side of hole 8 ready to be installed). Stopped in at Door Disc Golf, the brand new local disc golf shop in Fish Creek, and overheard the owners talking about the work they were doing to improve the course (like tee pads and signs).
- Once this course gets popular, the shared parking with the dog park could be an issue. At first, I drove over to the Recreational Park nearby thinking that was where I was supposed to start. I feel like it could maybe work if they put the course map and info sign and a practice basket near the woods east of the rec park and then cut a trail through to hole 1's tee pad. Be quite a bit of work, obviously, but would add a lot of visibility to the course and make parking less of an issue.

Lots of Potetnttial 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 4, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

A lot more variation than other courses in the area. Good mix of holes and has a lot of potential. With some TLC this course will be one of the best courses on the peninsula.

Cons:

Hard to find all the different tee areas and the course can eat a disc or two unless you play with a buddy or have amazing accuracy.

Other Thoughts:

having an indicator to the next tee would help this course tremendously.
