I'm in need of a new overstable utility disc. My first thought was champ firebird. But I love lat64 and thier awsomesause plastic. I need opinions and experience between these two discs and how they stack up to each other. So what do you guys prefer?

No comparison for me, the firebird does it all, 11x of course. It is a little faster, has more glide, and a wider hyzer finish.
The xXx would love to be a firebird, and it tries, but fails.

If I were going to buy a firebird or xxx for that matter I don't think I'd like much glide on em. I liked my buddy's cfr glow firebird and liked it alot. I just need some advice on these 2 discs so I end up with a better disc.

bias aside, why get hooked on an OOP mold when you never had the attachment to it in the first place? whether its a FB or XXX (my personal choice) it should definitely be a current run whatever.

i loved banshees, outgrew them (i think?), threw both the xxx and the fb, and am currently using the xxx. doesnt have much glide, has a slightly slower turn overhand, and skips a little higher as opposed to farther IMO. seems to me like you already throw mostly lat64, and dont throw any innova, so PERSONALLY i would keep the scheme going and try another swedish brethren. dont get me wrong, firebirds are freaking awesome and to each his own [obviously] . . .

I was totally unaware that the firebird was OOP. play it again has some. I may have to opt for the xxx then. I don't really want to try and hunt down a OOP disc if I were to lose one.

i actually throw both! started when i needed somethign more stable than a 12x firebird, went with an 11x because those are awesome even into 15mph they just go straight. but they are OOP so i sold them and got a bunch of XXX's. so basically i kept both current production molds in the bag. then lat 64 messed up and switched their snowflaking robot arm and the mold had a little tweak. so after all that i'm throwing 12x firebirds for backhand and forehand. the flat XXX is for rev shots(rare), thumbers(Bombs), giant spikes, giant forehand spikes, forehand rollers(the larger size gets you further safer imho)

looks like you throw lat so it is a no brainer. if you don't like the XXX i'll trade you a 12x firebird for it!

if you can find 11x time firebirds at play it again sports you should pick em all up, you can never go wrong with em and they are easy to resell

I couldn't leave the house without my FB, never steers me wrong, but I agree with gripenemys2k in that if you already throw Lat64 then stick with it. Personally I would throw a FB, could always control it more than a XXX.

i love my xxx i have never really tried a fb but i would highly recommend a xxx i have been throwing them for a while and i have a hard time missing my target with it. gota go with gold line then

Buy one of each. Try them. Keep the one you like. Trade the other for a backup for your keeper. You should decide which one you prefer, not us.

^^ this

if you depend on others to make your disc selection for you, you are a tool.
it's good to hear about people's opinions but to truly know what suits you better just try them out. throw a few rounds or a Lot of field work. I've kept discs in my bag after I thought I had replaced them, then pulled them out a month later and decided I should keep them. (Most recent was a Flow). Throw what you like, don't depend on others.

Grats McLeod, on you 700th post. We should play again some day.

I have my 11x, and a brand new one I can't get my self to throw. Glow FB is super stable, and not OOP fyi. I've got a couple of those. Currently don't throw 'em tho.

i just noticed that you have been playing for 4months. chances are you are throwing less than 300 now.

go with a firebird.....maybe a champ 170 to start with!

yeah if you don't throw 300 the XXX won't make it 225ish. then i think i a less stable firebird is key. if you throw a lot of overhand than go glow fb flat or XXX.

No I can throw alot farther then 300 now. I get about 375 pretty regularly. Distance isn't my weakness, it's more or less control. I just wanted opinions on these two discs, obviously I don't want someone to choose one for me. But I may have to pick up both and do some field practice. Play it again has champ FBs and my buddy owns Hazardiscs so he's got a bunch of xxxs. Speaking of which he's got a pink GL one...hmmm

Both are great discs. If you throw 375 regularly, go get a nice champ Firebird. You can handle it and it will be sweet for you.

I throw about 300 regularly, so I prefer the slower XXX and Innova's Banshee.

I actually kinda wanted slow over fast. The firebird or xxx is going to be a utility disc and not so much a driver. It could be a driver for holes 300 or less I suppose. Mostly though I need it for a consistent, overstable workhorse.

I've got a trident and it's not stable enough but thanks lol.
