I've been throwing star for a while now. I do prefer the grip of star plastic but it seems to wear faster than champion plastic. Thoughts? Also, have you guys noticed any difference between the glide or turn vs fade between the two?

Star all day. Feels better in the hand, beats in quicker. throws farther.

This is tough, because when I throw Innova or Latitude 64 I pretty much just throw Champion/Opto, but Discraft I throw FLX/ESP...

I do have a preference for the grip of Star I guess. Champion does fine once it's beat in, but is a bit too slick right out of the box.

Both are similarly durable, but I can't tell you if they fly differently. I've thrown the same discs in DX and Champion or DX and Star, but never Champion and Star both.

I mostly just grab whatever type has the most preferable color and weight available at the store that day, or whichever one is sitting in the used bin.

It also depends on the disc. Champ for a putter is stupid unless you are not using it to putt.
There are tons of threads about the differences between star and champion plastics that will answer all the questions you have asked. Understable drivers I am begining to throw in star-esque plastics, overstable drivers I keep champ, midrange discs I like pro plastics and Elite X, but I do mix it up with Z buzzz, ESP Hornet, and Opto Pure.

Champ driver, love the way they feel and I think they beat in way quicker than star plastic. Nothing like a gummy 4x Champ valk.........yum.

If I could guarantee gummy champ, champ. Since I can't, star. Even better, Gold Line ;)

poll created by someone yet to enjoy the beauty of Gold Line/Tourmament/Opto/VIP plastics?

I say champ. I like the way it beats in and I feel it does so faster than star. I do love a beat in star driver, but I usually buy them used so I don't have to spend the hours getting to that stage of wear.

I use both. After a reply from Dave D. of Innova to a post regarding these plastics. I decided to go with his "advise" Star plastic for the faster discs (drivers and fairway drivers) and Champ for the slower discs (mids). His reason for this was that Star plastic is faster and Champ more durable. Figure I had to listen to one of the owners/designers of the stuff :)

Star for me. It beats in a little faster, yet is still very durable and the grip is good. I do love the champion plastic too though.
