The 2014 Memorial Championship

720p30 looks like trash at 5Mb. Maybe some talking heads can pass at that low of a bitrate.

Sports content though???? Please. 10Mb minimum. Especially since sports should idealy be streamed at 720p60.
I agree that sports SHOULD be pushed through at 60fps. But other than the drives, our sport isn't very action packed. 30fps is sufficient. I think that you are wrong about the 720p30 at 5Mb looking like trash. You WILL get bad spots, but again, it can be done especially with the bonded connections.

Still 4-5 stations with wireless bridges are expensive (thousands of $$$ each). The year of the satellite we had 3 wired cameras (1, 18, and announcers) and 1 wirelessly bridged camera.

True, a very expensive one time purchase, then cost of dedicated 10mb(or more) pipe into the main tent each year the run it.

Debatable.

Hardwired 10Mb dedicated upload is an absolute minimum for sending a 'mission critical' 720p30 stream.

Whatever 'bandwidth' is available on site is most likely being shared. That bandwidth is essentially useless for a proper web broadcast..

And you know any of this how???

Why does the reaction on this site always seem to skew towards skepticism? He sure talks like someone who might know a thing or two about broadcasting and/or internet technology.

Anyway, MPO is on the course. Top two cards are being live scored at PDGAlive.com. Philo limping out of the gate with a 5 on hole 1.

I just got word that Philo thought he hit the wall on hole one, but Cale disputed it and they ended up NOT giving it to him. And now Philo is not happy.

The reason that I ask, is because I am someone that has worked at the event, worked with the club, the PDGA and the city of Fountain Hills and I just wanted to know where he was getting his information from

Because I do professional web broadcast for my daily work.

My assumptions are made with 'real world' experience backing them.

I'm not 100% sure of the specifics of the on-site internet infrastructure… you've definitely 'got' me there. But I can certainly take a few educated guesses because I've worked in similar venues.

Dig?

paige tearing it up. thats what i like to see. i was hoping the GCC was just a bad fluke for her

Just checked the weather forecast... Saturday is going to be fun. Thunderstorms all day! Could be a real interesting finish.

My point was you don't know anything about the actual site and just guessing. I just get frustrated that people float random opinions on here and attack the group that runs the Memorial as the reason why it's not being broadcast or the city or what ever and frankly they just don't know what they are talking about. I can tell you from personal experience, sitting down with the city planners and the mayor that the city of Fountain Hills supports the Memorial and is proud that it is held there and they have the infrastructure to support the technical needs.
