Round notes:A couple days ago I thought that would be the last time I'd play here, but I managed to sneak in an early round with Ryan T. The weather was perfect, very few players early on and the wind was a factor early but diminished as we played. I forced myself to approach and drive methodical and relaxed, not great distance but better accuracy. This turned into one of the best rounds I've ever played. Nothing spectacular, pretty solid drives, reasonable approaches and decent putting. My kite ended up being the putter of choice today, had confidence throwing it in the wind. That said, I was so close to actually throwing a true par 3 round here today. I left 4 bone head strokes out there......... I'm overriding the pars on the card and scoring this round as all par 3's.

Round notes:What a day! Almost 70 on November 7th in Wisconsin. First time at Baraboo and I liked a lot about the course, several short technical holes, lots of obstructions, heavily wooded and elevation, not like CO..........but a challenge none the less. Many holes are deceiving, you can see the baskets, especially with all the leaves gone, but the risk of an errant drive makes you pay a bit. I left several birdie attempts on the course, my putting was not good, or should I say I can do so much better. Several of the back 9 holes are like they were just plopped in where ever there was room on the campus. No challenge, just following a soccer field or along a parking lot road..........The T pads are being improved, upgraded from mats to concrete, very nice improvement. It is a chug for me, 1:15 min but I will play here again especially because I know I can do so much better.I think the am pars are too generous, almost all of them should be par 3's.

Round notes:The wind literally kicked my ass today. I have a lot to learn about playing open holes with 20 mph wind, especially on approaches and putts. Putting into the wind was a disaster!! I have got to get better at that. I played somewhat sporadic, especially my drives, many really turned over no matter what I did or what disc I threw. This will probably be the last time I play here till next spring, they close the course Oct 31st, but are extending that due to our spurt of unseasonably nice weather. The ranger said they will probably pull the pins after this weekend.

Round notes:After working all day in the off and on drizzle, wind and super low cloud cover, why not try and throw a quick round??? Left the job site In SP at 5pm and there was just enough daylight to get 18 in. I actually threw my T-Birds well today, first time ever. Working on my driving, keeping my release low, the reach back, watching as I take the disc back and follow through,it's working............a little bit. I threw as well as I ever have at Hiestand because I wasn't recovering from the woods. Missed some relatively easy puts but also made some satisfying ones. The last three days have been the most improvement I'v made in a long time.

Round notes:Here's some irony, the off and on pissing rain today, not drizzle, won't allow me to keep my tools set up outside, but I can throw on some gore-tex and play a round........ They changed many of the basket locations today, nice! I had one drive in the woods, otherwise I managed to put all the rest in the fairway. What a difference throwing my approach from the fairway makes with my score. Everything was consistent today, not long drives but accurate. I actually was really close to putting the disc in the basket on several approach shots, that gave me lots of confidence. I said it before, as nice as it is to play here and "birdie" many holes, I still think the pars here are extremely generous.

Round notes:Jetted out after jobbing in Sun Prairie, hoped the course wouldn't be busy and it was so. Had not scored a round for a few weeks and only limited practice. Started out alone and ended up finishing this round with Hank, a really great guy, 63, been playing for about 15 years and he plays here 2-3 times a week, has an annual pass-sweet. I was anxious to test my somewhat modified drive technique after watching Avery Jenkins about a hundred times. I did have moments of improvement....I can see I'm headed in the right direction. The pars on this course are pretty generous and I threw fairly well. One really exciting moment, I used my Kite for a 80 ft approach on 9 and dropped it in the basket, just to save par but still exciting!

Round notes:I thought when I played Beaver Meadows at 7900 ft that I was playing at elevation with views,(and I was). It's just that when you play at 10,360 ft there are really views and vistas! Dayna, Steve, Jessie and I rode up the gondola this evening to play what would be my best scoring round of mountain disc golf. This is another really cool place to play, with a lot more change in elevation than I've ever played! It just seems that when you think you've seen everything an alpine disc course has to offer, you're wrong. This was yet another great place to play with new challenges, I'll say it again, I'd love to return to this course with some experience under my belt.
