I think you were probably correct, but I'm not one to let something like that discourage me.
I just started a few weeks ago. I saw some of those crazy baskets at the park and thought I would try it out. I figure I'll be ready to turn pro in a month or two.
This is something that I never really got while playing or watching ball golf, too. The "par" is just a made up number. I always found it simpler to try and ignore it and just go for the best score I can on each hole. It's just something that might mess with your head.
Played the course again and did one better. Didnt feel that good about it this time. Hit a lot of trees and missed a lot of short ones. Hole 12 is listed at 228 feet and I threw the judge putter past it and just a bit left probably about 240, so at least i can throw it pretty far sometimes...
That's cool because I got one of those starter packs. I have a Leopard, Tee-Bird and Destroyer. I probably wont be able to resist trying them out for long.
