This is why I think the rule could explain better. You described a plurality-the decision that got the greatest number of votes. A majority vote in most jurisdictions is more than half of the voting population. That's why we often have runoffs after general elections because no candidate...
801.03 A. When a group cannot reach a majority decision regarding a ruling, the ruling is based on the interpretation that is most beneficial to the thrower.
4-person card making IB/OB decision
1-Thrower, In
1-I don't know/can't tell
2-OB
I think 2 is not a majority of the card so, IB. This...
A thought: Simplify by having Mandatory Relief areas/objects and Optional Relief areas/objects. These areas must be defined so you can't just call relief for a disc lost in any tall weeds or leaves. Determine lie & line of play same as OB. Eliminate Casual. All rules can be abused. "Casual...
Personally, I think that should apply to Casual & Relief also but per a speaker phone conversation with RC Chair and our TD, "compelling evidence" only applies to OB and specifically not to Casual. The rational was it would be abused. Relief Area didn't come up in that convo.
Hmmm, I think you're right. Casual & DZ combined confused me. RC took hard stand 1-2 years ago that if you can't locate a disc the card saw splash into a 2" deep mocha-colored Casual Water puddle (or a 20+' gully) it was Lost. They changed a Q&A about it. Concern was previous interpretation...
Regarding the second scenario: I wonder if that is a misplay per the rules? Is the DZ the casual relief for that area? If there was reasonable evidence the disc went into the casual area there is not a requirement that players negotiate a 20+' gulch to confirm. You can search for 3 minutes but...
Good for you! You have space and enthusiasm. Add challenges like Mando forehand. Mando anhyzer. Mando roller. Looks like you probably have lots of wind there, practice 50'-150' upshots when the dust blows. Wedge a 2x4 in a cement block for instant and portable obstacles to direct the shot. Have...
