The Course for Walkers

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 14, 2023 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Multiple par 4's and a par 5 in a town with few long courses.
Impeccable upkeep.
Brand new baskets. The former Prodigy baskets were swapped out for new baskets recently. I drove by the course but I didn't see the brand of the new baskets.
Good tee signs, and excellent concrete tee pads

Cons:

Very few obstacles on most holes. The main things to avoid here are O.B. and headwind putts.
Very little elevation change.
Most of the par 3's are in the mid 200' range, and very forgettable.
There are four holes in the 'just out of my reach' range, holes 7, 9, 13, 14 (440-550'). These holes are never much fun for me to play.

Hole 10, 245'. The basket is on an approximately 35' island with the surrounding area ob. With a drop zone. The raised island is too small for me as an intermediate player to hit even half the time, and the drop zone putt is too far to run safely if your name is not McBeth.

Other Thoughts:

Tony Walker DGC plays around the ballfields at Michael Buchanan Park. The navigation is pretty straightforward, though there is at least one significant walk between holes. There is a walking path that determines ob on over half of the holes, while the road is the ob line on several others.
Hole 18 ends up back by hole 1, but because the course is one continuous loop, you'd have to skip the middle half of the course to play just nine holes.

In my opinion the best hole on the course is hole 16, the 950' par 5.

If you are in Bowling Green, stay away from this course and opt to play one of the shorter more wooded courses or if you are looking for more distance go to Ephram White.

3.75 Rating: OB risk/reward shots with no lost discs 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 31, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

A course that challenges you to land every drive in bounds with the use of OB walking paths. I thought the distances, pin placements and consistent wind all work together for a fun level of challenge. 16 is a true par 5 requiring 3 distinct shots. The course was well maintained.

Cons:

With 6 holes well over 400 and 11 holes well under 250, the course is missing holes in the 350 foot range that require speed 7-9 drivers from the tee. I hope they push back 3 to 4 pins to round out the course (holes 2, 12, 15, 17 could use more distance).

Other Thoughts:

This course plays a lot like Ephram White with a little less distance and more of a consistent emphasis on OB. It's an open course and some might find it to be bland but I really loved the challenge of making the right disc choice and controlling the angle of the disc. If you land OB there's no lost disc and no searching in rough. Just pick it up and take your stroke. Hopefully they keep adding to the course to make it more unique.

Well Worth Playing 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 11, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Peaceful, well-maintained park. Mostly wide open with some vegetation in play. Water fountains at various points along course. Multiple ace runs.

Cons:

Long walk between holes 6 and 7. Only single pin locations. I feel this course offers a great opportunity for alternative pin positions on a variety of holes. Would love to see this added in the future.

Other Thoughts:

There are train tracks very near the first few holes. Overthrowing hole 1 could easily land you on the tracks. Overall, I feel this course was very well designed and I look forward to playing again the next time I'm passing through.
