Good but needs work

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 16, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

+ Concrete Teepads, these aren't the best but they are better than any of the alternatives.

+ Innova Discatcher baskets are always a welcome sight. The added pop of color on the band makes the baskets easier to find in the woods.

+ Nice teesigns. Big enough, colorful enough and they give you all the information that you need.

+ This is a short, fairly wooded course with tight but fair lines. Fairways are fair, the rough is rough.

+ Course flows pretty decently. The walk from 7 to 8 was a bit long but other than that I had no complaints.

Cons:

- Teepads are nice but they are all about a foot or two too short and they are all raised off the ground by a few inches. Its not the biggest deal since all of the holes are short so a long run up is not needed.

- The course seems under-maintained. The holes that are out in the open are usually nicely mowed but the 6 holes that are in the woods dont seem to get cleaned up. There is a small amount of trash throughout the course. The rough is also super rough.
- The course plays away from the parking lot and does not come back to it. You finish hole 9 at the furthest point away on the course. Not how I like to see courses designed but the walk isn't too bad, just annoying.

- Rough is a bit too rough. This course is in need of some TLC. A few lines could use some trimming and the rough is super rough in parts.

Other Thoughts:

I didn't see the homelessness that the other reviews on here and uDisc talk about.(UPDATE, I have since been here a few more times and there is definitely a homeless population here. Pretty sure two of them made a fort in the the middle of the brush on the right side of the tee on hole 9.) The course was muddy but nothing out of the ordinary for a wooded park when it rained that day. If this course was heavily tracked then it could get real bad but it's not bad.

Overall this is just another short, wooded, park style 9 holer. Nothing crazy on either spectrum, its easy but not turn your brain off easy. I would really only recommend this course if you are in the area and are looking for a short simple course. Nothing stands out as a must play about this course.

There's no reason for this course to exist 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 10, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Not crowded

Cons:

Everything else.

Other Thoughts:

I think this course was designed by people that just wanted to clear out the homeless people out by the creek and the swampy areas.
Don't be fooled by that first tee pad photo, which by the way is right next to a very busy road. Once you get past the first basket the course literally and figuratively goes downhill from there.
There are a couple holes that are not bad, but then you get to what is likely the most disgusting creek in Washington County near a railroad spur. Then it's down to the swamp where you play over a buried natural gas pipeline in a disgusting swamp pit through weeds and blackberries to play the last two holes on actual grass. Maybe if this course gets more attention it would be good, but right now the only reason to come here is Orchard Park is too crowded and you have to play disc golf no matter what. Also there are homeless people at the gazebo. Avoid this course. Just take the extra twenty minutes to drive to Horning's Hideout. I don't like that place so much either but at least it's playable and the courses are somewhat maintained.
I'm fairly certain this course will be featured on an upcoming Dateline when they find all the bodies buried here.

Great new course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 20, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Great tees, great signage, great baskets.
- The course makes excellent use of the all the trees in the park.
- Fairways are cut nicely, with good amounts of briars and brush at the peripheries; choose your lines wisely!
- There's a good mix of left-to-right and right-to-left shots off the tees.
- Bark chips surround all the baskets.

Cons:

- It was a little swampy due to all the rain, but still totally playable.
- There's a homeless camp to the right and behind hole 1.

Other Thoughts:

- A few holes follow the river, bringing water into play.
- Overall it's a good and challenging course.
