Interesting add to apartment complex 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 22, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Baskets are decent
-Signage is OK (but in yards)
-Good variation on length
-Forces tight lines

Cons:

-Natural tees
-Many throws over or near parking area
-Forces tight lines
-No benches / trashcans

Other Thoughts:

Hillcrest Park Apartments DGC is located in and around the Hillcrest Park Apartment complex on the west side of Cedar Falls, IA. An interesting addition to an apartment complex, this course suffers from having to throw near or over much of the parking area. #1 plays in the middle green space, #2 is over parking to the SW corner. #3 has some space to throw, but parking still on the right. #4 is blind as you throw up and over a maintenance building with a small fairway to the left or parking to the right (and way right is the pool). #5 shoots near volleyball and basketball, with a slight bend to the left near more parking. #6 is the longest and tightest hole with parking right and a stream with heavy brush and a steep drop off on the left. #7 throws over a marshy area, a 5' wide area left of the marsh, 10ish' to the right but nearing the apartments. #8 tees through tall grasses and curves around the SE end of the parking. #9 finishes up teeing over driveway into the center green space. Passable is about right, but you may want to play early in the spring to avoid high overgrowth on #6 and #7 and play during the day to miss parked cars. The hazards keep this one way down for me. There are many other courses to play in the area. Probably won't play this one again.

Too many hazards to play. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 4, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

There are nine baskets.

We found eight tee signs with distance listed (in yards).

I do not have many good things to say about this place.

Cons:

No tee pads.

Almost every hole is unplayable due to throwing directly over a busy student parking lot.

On most holes, you have a five foot 'fairway' that probably has a picnic table directly in the middle of it. If you go too far right, you smoke a car in the parking lot. Too far left, your disc is lost in the thick brush or marshy swamp mess.

Sometimes, rather than getting too close to a parked car, you can get too close to 20 back decks on the apartment complex.

Other Thoughts:

This course is not playable. You cannot have a 450 foot blind shot that covers an entire parking lot. If they would at least shorten the holes so you didn't have a hazard on every tee off, they could make this at least usable for the residents that live there, but it was not worth anyones time the way it was set up (see photos).
