Review by tomjohnson59 in course Miner's Point DGC

4.00 star(s) from the designer Thanks for checking out the reviews. When we started building this course, the vision was to eliminate overhand opportunities, and to have a good mix of non-biased holes. The new course record is -9, so it can be scored on. The front nine is easy to walk and circles back to...

Review by tomjohnson59 in course Deer Meadow

3.50 star(s) totally unique First, I designed it, so recognize my bias. The course in a huge field, but you'll notice the contrast between fairways and rough. The rough is O.B. So yeah, it looks wide open, but plays tight. There are no demands on your style of throw, but there's risk and reward to going...

Review by tomjohnson59 in course Edgewater DGC

4.00 star(s) Loved it! Great nature. Very quiet and private feeling for being in the heart of Redding. Lots of shade, should be cool in the summer, the river will cool it down as well. The trees make the course pretty technical, nice tight windows. Lots of LHBH shots, I'm RH and threw a lot of forehands...

    Links golf. Heard of it?

As far as I know, there are no links style disc golf courses, except in Lewiston, CA. Links golf is typically ocean side and without trees. Wind, tall grass, rolling terrain and blind shots are common. In traditional golf, tall grass means hacking out sideways, losing a ball and re-teeing...

What draws you to a tournament?

    1. Quality Course 2. Strength of field 3. Food Those are the big three. Prize pack with custom stamped discs are nice. Good payout for pro's, meaning none for Amateurs, so good prizes for Am divisions.

Review by tomjohnson59 in course Lee Fong Park DGC

4.00 star(s) just right I love lee fong park. The course has great flow, nature, variety of shots, technical and open aired, ups and downs, really nice baskets and cement tee pads. The locals are really nice. The course could be marked up better, signs with feet etc. Lee Fong is a must play when driving...

Finding help funding a new course

fund raising Yo! here's a great way to raise a bunch of cash. Put a movable basket in the middle of the student quad. Get a T-shirt company to screen a bunch of shirts for real cheap that say something about donating for the disc course. Set up a putt, far enough away so that people will...
