This tournament is one of the College Disc Golf Qualifier events for the 2020 College Disc Golf National Championship. There will be one bid awarded to the top placing team in the advanced field. This tournament is also open to women's collegiate teams.
The championship flight teams will be made up of teams of 3 or 4 individuals. These teams will play two rounds of alternating team doubles. This is a form of best shot doubles customized for college disc golf play. These teams will also play one round of PDGA-rated singles competition. The actual scores from the doubles rounds and an average score for all team members from the singles round will be averaged (ex. all four members shoot a 54, the average score for the team that goes towards the overall score would be 54) and used to determine the overall team winner who will be awarded a bid to the National Championship.
Saturday October 26th will begin tournament play at Morris Park on the Seth Burton DGC in Fairmont, WV. The first round of the day will be a Collegiate Doubles team format on the layout of Long Tee Pads to the Long (Yellow) Baskets. One hour following the completion of this round, a second round of Collegiate Doubles will take place on Orange Crush DGC at the same park; the layout played by all teams will be Long Tee Pads to the Long (Orange) Baskets.
Sunday October 20th will conclude tournament play. There will one round of PDGA-rated singles play held at Dorsey's Knob DGC. This round will be played from the Long Tee Pads. Awards will be held immediately following the completion of this round to get teams on the road ASAP.
Each individual competitor will receive a Players Pack sponsored by Appalachain Disc Golf, Mario's Fishbowl, and Stanley Tools. Player's will receive the following:
*One Disc and Towel supplied by Appalachain Disc Golf
*Choice of two small Stanely Tools items
*One voucher for a 20% discount on food at Mario's Fishbowl for Saturday evening following the conclusion of Round 2
Additionally, we should have someone that will be on-site one or both days to take team photos and actions shots that will be made available for team use following the tournament!
