Great Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 13, 2021 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This is a great little course. All Tees are clearly marked. All baskets are easy to find. Grass is well taken care of. Restrooms are available and clean. It's a recreational course. Not a competition course.

Cons:

Can't think of any.

2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 26, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

- the course plays across a small, grassy, flat park
- all the shots are pretty short, I think there were 2 shots right around 300 feet, but the rest are closer to 200 feet
- you can park right next to hole 1 and you can play all 9 holes in under 20 minutes
- bathrooms available
-- baskets were in pretty good conition

Cons:

- grass tee pads that aren't established at all, never really knew exactly where to throw from, just kind of throw from next to the tee sign
- the pars are a little silly, I think there were 2 par 4s, that were easy 3s and very possible 2s.
- really no exciting throws

Other Thoughts:

Great small park option for the area, but certainly not anything special.

Putting Practice 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 26, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

- Colored baskets are a nice touch and easy to navigate.
- Nice big trees. They could be used better, though.
- Mowed grass.
- Signage is pretty good. Easy to understand.
- It can be kinda fun when nearly every hole is an ace run.
- Can't imagine it would ever be crowded.
- Regular park amenities.

Cons:

- The pars are ridiculous. There are a few par 4's, par 5, and a par 2. A par 5 shouldn't be possible to ace - it's only 320 ft and ONE tree in the way. And a par 2 is dumb, especially when there is an easier par 3 right before it.
- No tee pads. Running up on grass isn't bad though.
- No risk vs reward shots. Mandatories would help. (There might have been some in the past, but there are no signs.)
- Few obstacles. Every shot is dead straight or easily hyzered. (Mando's?)
- Very short. They did make pretty good use of the limited space they had available, but jump putting off the tee shouldn't be a thing.
- Crowded fairways and holes again due to limited space.

Other Thoughts:

It's a decent course for what it is. You can't be too critical of the only course for literally miles around. Ignore the signs and play it as a par 3. Perfect for introducing new people to the sport. The whole thing can be played with a putter.

Backyard Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 2, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nicely cut grass and 9 holes of golf to play.

Great signage and easy to navigate!

Nice single chain discatchers painted different colors to help navigation.

Cons:

Layout - The whole course would fit on a football field if you overlaid it. The park is small and the holes are fun for easy birdies and ace runs but they are bunched too closely together. It probably doesn't matter since you likely won't encounter other groups there, but inside a space of about 75 feet were 3 baskets and 2 tees.

Grass tees - not so bad considering you're often not throwing much over 100 feet.

Other Thoughts:

It literally feels like you have set up some baskets in the yard and are playing around just for fun.

There was deer poop everywhere on the course but I was lucky enough not to land in any. Didn't see any deer.

I only drove to play this course to check Wyoming off the list and there just wouldn't be a reason to come back.

Next to the Rodeo 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 5, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

This nine hole park course comes with all the usual park amenities: mowed grass, easy to find, bathrooms which were open when I played here in early June. Since it is tucked away in the southwest corner of the state there are no alternatives for banging chains for many miles. Many short holes with few obstacles should make scoring low and provide ample ace run opportunities. I recommend this course for beginners and people itching to get in a round when traveling I-80. The course flows well from the northwest corner of the lot and finishes there at nine. There are few if any interferences the design did a good job avoiding other park facilities. One hole doglegged and flirted with an out of bounds, which to me added more challenge.

Cons:

The course and available parkland is short and limited to the openness of a park. Some of the tee signs are missing but the course is so short that a post is all you should need since you will see the basket from the marker and understand where to go from there. This is the sort of practice pitch and putt course that many players would only need to take a putter to or just one driver and the putter. Its funny how even an unmemorable course such as this can still be a lot of fun.

Other Thoughts:

Long story short, it's a nine hole pitch and putt course. The park is next to a rodeo ground. That when I played was full of sheep. I don't know what ranchers do with sheep, but whatever they do, they were doing it at a large building on the rodeo grounds right next to the park. As a disc golf tourist, it was the many hundreds of sheep that made this course unique for me. I've only been to Evanston a handful of times and I always think about the short scene in SLC Punk where our heros flip out the locals during quest to buy real (stronger) beer. Perhaps they should have stopped off at Hamblin Park to bang the chains instead of causing all that trouble.

Just Passing Through 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 4, 2008 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Park is well maintained. There seems to be a lot of potential for development of more holes and making this course much more challenging. I played a round or two with some local IT guys (Steve) and others) who were on a lunch break. Aloha guys...

Cons:

Only 9 holes. Too many mando's, but I suppose this was the only way to make the course more challenging for now. Some confusion on hole signage.
