Pros:

Usually well maintained. New baskets. Fairly easy to do a quick round

Heard club is involved in bashing women on the internet for not liking the changes. Quality guys.

Cons:

The park has allowed the local club to run amuck and ruin the course. They are trying to make the course more difficult vs trying to improve it. Harder is not necessarily better. Some changes have been fine but others are hugely detrimental to the enjoyment of the course. About half the holes have changed as of now but apparently many more changes are forthcoming. I believe the park has no clue what is being done and they'd be upset if they did. I know guys in the club. Some are thrilled with changes. Some are not. None were consulted on changes. Seems just a few local pros got to make this choice

Other Thoughts:

Adding pin positions as we did years ago at NQ is perfectly fine. But why get rid of the originals? Add alternate pin positions but allow us to play the original as well. Many of us started at this course and are sad we can't play some of these holes ever again. My wife is sad as her only hole in one is hole 11 and it's gone now. Sad for her.

Pros:

Two 4'x10' concrete teepads per hole. Signs at each teepad (details only at short), bag holders, some benches. Two nine-hole loops.

Upkeep - dampish areas well mulched, lack of litter, can tell the course is taken care of.

Cons:

Quite flat. Fairly repetitive. Walking paths through middle of course.

Other Thoughts:

Course is located in a multi-purpose public park, with a main road, not coming into play, forming one edge of the course.

The holes on this course fall into two basic categories - short-n-tight (holes 4-8, in dense collection of small/mid-diameter trees) with quite challenging shape requirements / narrow windows (particularly from the longs), or primarily open, with typically a couple tall, mid-diameter tree trunks to avoid mid/late fairway. On these openish holes, the alternate tees mostly just add length - the basic look to the basket doesn't change much, except for #16.

Holes 3-9 are the holes that require lots of shot shaping, both right, lefts, and S-shapes. Straight, with an appropriate amount of subtle turn or fade, will suffice on the other holes. Average length is ~300'/235' from the long/short tees, so big throwers won't have many bombing opportunities.

A decent course, well-maintained, limited by the available natural resources. An enjoyable play, good for introducing people to the game, minimal chance of disc loss.

Pros:

Multiple tee pads. Some challenging shots. If you are interested in course scores, the par 5's make it very easy to shot under for the course. Most par 3's are driveable from the tee for even a beginner like myself.

Cons:

Flat. Not a really challenging course if you play by the par card. Really crowded when I played around 2:30. This and New Quarter are the first courses I've ever had to pay to play.

Other Thoughts:

I enjoyed the course. Its a good break from playing only one course constantly. New Quarter Park is still more challenging and has better scenery.

Another Overrated VA course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 19, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Multiple Tee Pads (even 3) on most holes
- Good signage
- Good overall park amenities
- Cool group of local golfers

Cons:

- Too many repetative holes. On the back 9 there are like 6 of the 9 holes that are 230 - 280 ft midrange hyzer shots.
- No real par 4 or 5s. There is a tremendous amount of land here and the course could be redesign with more par 4s and 5s.

Other Thoughts:

Again this course is too short for my taste. Great little beginner course, but for a seasoned player there isn't anything outstanding about this course. Putting is premium on this course (as with many of the older courses) and driving really isn't that important.
