Pros:

being an old golf course is exciting enough. big long fairways with elevation and obstacles due to tee placement.

Cons:

property is for sale. grass on fairway is 4 feet tall in spots, hard to find tees, cant find hole 3 basket or tee 4. has closed gate at entrance making you walk a mile to tee 1. and then back to car.

Other Thoughts:

such high hopes things improve so this course is playable. i'd buy the place and live in the clubhouse if i could. i look forward to playing a round ASAP!!!

A 5 in time 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 8, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

The layout of the holes makes for a great disc golfing experience. I felt like i was playing on a pro tour course. Layed out along an old ball golf course, it reminded me of all the tournament footage id watched on youtube. The majority of the holes are long, crossing fairways, protected baskets, elevation changing. There's water mixed in with some of the holes. A small creek running through some holes, a pond youre either throwing around or across on hole 4. There is signage at each pin directing you to the next hole

Baskets are brand new discatchers, lightly used.

Cons:

Being this is a new course, tee pads have not been put in, and there is no real signage. Potential tee pads are marked in the grass with painted sticks. Also, it seems like the course holds a lot of water in some of the fairways. Mightve been due to the amount of rain we had the weekend before, but hopefully with the summer coming it wont be an issue. One basket was missing, probably due to some idiots stealing it.

Currently the country club property that this is on is locked during the week. To play this course, you have to park at the gates and walk for about 15 minutes down the entry road. On the gates, management wrote that its ok to enter when locked, so no worries about trespassing. The walk is long, and the clubhouse isnt open, so plenty of water is needed. Finding the 1st hole is kind of a challenge, it's located on the southeast side of the clubhouse on a raised tee pad area.

Other Thoughts:

In time, this course can really be something special. A lot of potential, just needs the funding and care to the course. There's a doubles tournament coming up soon and hopefully there will be more information from the owners as to what the future holds for this hidden gem.

the plum tree expeiriment 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Feb 23, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

plum tree is a advanced to Champion level design set on the back 9 of what was a premier golf course designed by Bill Lee that despite being a amazing ball golf course ,water ,elivation, dog legs and over 100 sand traps . failed as a long term Golf location. A Employer of mine decided to purchase the property and use it for a outdoor concert festival ground, with the clubhouse being used as a night/supper club with food n live music and other catered events , its future to be something like 'Hornings hideout ' in the Portland area ,Last summer i was asked to design its Disc golf course . i had a partner in this design [ Peter Ralph] to assist in perspective of a righthanded thrower that can throw 450 ft ,i am left handed and can throw 350 . The results of our initial layout is from both perspectives . If you can throw 300 ft on point , you can play this course and get a reasonable score .there are both wide open and wooded shots ,uphill and down hill . hole 4 has a pond ,you can either lay up or go for it . the land is very pretty and secluded . the idea is to get away for a few hours n play! bring a lot of hydrating liquid and a snack

Cons:

this course is brand new , some of the holes are still being tweeked . example ; hole 9 is 5oo ft open to a slightly guarded basket . its current fairway sits adjacent to a stand of pines running the full lenth of the fairway on a hill to the left . my long term intentions are to use these pines to make a new fairway once i clear out the buckthorn growing between said pines . also i wanted to point out that before pads go in ,i wanted to be sure the permanent layout . the grounds are multi use. i plan on using concrete once im 100% , at this point its just moving a anchor .

Other Thoughts:

AS i pointed out this is new ,put in in record time , only opened to the public so far at certain times , the clubhouse is still under renovation for future comercial use . this means there are no regular hours so getting on the property is not easy like a public park. if you really want to play it contact me personally at this point. we where not expecting this course to be on this site or the PDGA ,nor did i expect reviews .STill as a player if i was looking for a course in the area that is NOT A PITCH n PUT feel good course , the only course i would choose over this "work in progress is Silver Fox DGC in Silver lake park ......more to come . in the coming months this course will have a regular schedule for play

Plum not quite ripe 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 17, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This review is on the current state of the course when I played it.

The entrance to this course is as good as any course I've been too. As you drive through the entrance of this former ball golf course the excitement builds. It's a half mile or so drive to the clubhouse. As you pull up to the clubhouse you see #18's basket to the right. The land is fantastic. Unlike most ball golf courses there is some great disc golf land. Woods, rolling hills, water, and more. It's a really beautiful piece of land.

Brand new Innova Discatcher baskets.

Hole #7 is a very interesting par 5. Placement down the wooded fairway is a must. If you can get out of the gap in 2 you set yourself up for a possible birdie 4.

There are several interesting greens. #8 green is really cool. See con as well.

There are several opportunities to grip and rip.

Cons:

My #1 con is the course isn't that fun for me. It's hard but it lacks the fun factor. There are also tons of blind holes. I am a pretty decent player and took 0 birdie 2's I wasn't playing that bad. The par 3's are just long a tough. Lots of pitching up. Many of the par 4's are not rewarding. Some take 2 average shots to get a 3. The excitement factor didn't get going. For as good as the land is it lacks signature holes. I played with 2 other friends of various skill level. We all had similar opinions after finishing.

Currently the tees are grass. I've heard rubber tees are on the way.

No signage as of the last time I played. Navigation is tricky in several spots.

I threw a high speed driver for nearly every tee shot. This includes going over the top on the shortest hole on the course. Diversity off the tee is not there. I threw lots of righty hyzer shots.

There are several holes like 3, 5, 8, 10, & 16. They are long par 3's where you are trying to blast through trees to get to the pin.

The addition of short tees will will address the less skilled aspect of the game but it adds a lot of walking which is not fun either.

Like many ball golf courses a lot of the golf fairways were used. There are 3 holes that are pretty much identical. Throw as far as you can then throw left into a protected green.

With a clubhouse serving beer, drinks, and restrooms the course does not play back during the round.

Hole #8 green is really cool but you cannot see it from the tee.

Course hours are not consistent and you never know when the gate is going to be open. Walking from the gate is a long hike!

Other Thoughts:

With proper development of several courses this could become a destination. There is a feel for the land and the clubhouse that you cannot replicate. The isolated area to play disc golf is second to none. The potential is very high and It's definitely worth checking out.

If I ever hit the lottery this is the piece of property I've been looking for to turn into my disc golf home.

Quite a few volunteers have been working hard out there. It's a great sign of the disc golf community!
