Pros:
This course plays super quick and you can get in multiple rounds. Ample tee pads, great baskets, and adequate signage. Trash cans at most holes.
This is a great course for beginners or someone that doesn't want a long bomber style of course.
More advanced players can work on their mid range game here. This course is well maintained and has restrooms on site. This is a good place for Ace Runs. Holes 7 & 8 have alternate tees.
The flow of the course is logical and there are both A & B pins positions. The baskets are moved around from time to time which helps make for slightly different lines.
War Memorial uses what trees are there to its advantage.
Cons:
Can get crowded at times due to the popularity of the course and also because it is so short. There are no benches, however with this course being as short as it is, wasn't an issue for me but might be for some.
Pros will most likely be bored here. Walking paths come into play on holes 1, 2, and 7, and are often busy with walkers/joggers.
Many of the holes are open here so wind will factor in. Also several holes don't have a lot of shade so it can get hot here in the summer time.
As of this review #8's basket is bent, most likely from a mower.
There isn't much elevation here in this park.
Other Thoughts:
This is a the kind of course that you look forward to early in your dg career. It isn't long and you should score well, it also helps build up your confidence. As you progress you will want to test your midrange game here. Or maybe you just want to run the chains and see if you can add to your ace count. Ponca City Disc Golf Club has 3 courses now in the Ponca City area with this course being the entry level course If you are looking for a course with more length then hit up the Lake Ponca course. Want a more technical course? PCDGC has you covered in that dept too. Check out Lake Ponca Bois D' Arc for a technical challenge. Overall this is a fun, short course that is an entry level, park style course. It serves its purpose well in that regard.
