Where are you going in 2024?

Off to NE Tennessee for a few days on Wednesday for River Valley Masters. I will play Warriors Cliffside, Sugar Hollow and Harmon for the event. Since I have played all of them multiple times before I am fairly likely to skip practicing them and try to play Winged Deer (haven't played), Warriors Lakefront (have played some of the holes many years ago) and Harmon 19-36 (have played a couple times but not as recently as 1-18) instead. Also might blow off disc golf entirely for a morning or afternoon and try to find some morels.

Lots of clouds today in Texas hill country, but the sun peeked out just enough!

Got one round in yesterday. Hoping to get another in tomorrow, but the weather does not look promising. I'll take being able to see a total solar eclipse over playing a second Texas course any day, though. Can always return for more DG.

6-day jaunt to Pittsburgh and Ohio included an eclipse, a wedding reception, and 17 new courses. Rainy weather cut plans short but still a memorable trip.

Highlights:

Total eclipse on the shore of Lake Erie was uh-may-zing. I can see why ancient civilizations freaked out. I had seen partial eclipses before but totality was a whole 'nother thing entirely. Cloudy forecast but skies were mostly clear, fortunately. We watched the eclipse at Lake Shore Park on Lake Erie and then bagged the disc golf course while the place was emptying out.

The Dips @ Denny Park: Heckuva 9-hole course, did not disappoint. Hiking the hills is tough but the disc golf was outstanding.

Lake Milton – The Osprey: Lovely woods course for a creaky old guy. Well-designed holes with accuracy > distance and lots of tricky approaches.

Portage Park: wildly exceeded my expectations for a short 9-hole course. Gorgeous park under mature tree canopy that somehow managed to combine 6 mostly-downhill holes with 3 uphill holes and finish where you started.

Lowlights:

Mud and more mud, interspersed with puddles. I took a couple of spectacular pratfalls on slippery hillsides, and two pairs of shoes may never be the same. Note to self: avoid traveling north during mud season.

I keep waiting for two consecutive rain-free days to bag some courses on the Eastern Shore (MD/DE). Probably hit the northern half this trip, and save the southern half for beach season. Eastern Shore is only a couple of hours away, but besides playing Cape Henlopen years ago I have sadly neglected this region.

I thought about trying to coordinate a special course for #500 but a crappy niner seems more likely.

After that I would like to visit family in NYC and do some bagging. Goals are to fill the gap between the "home clump" and New England, and to do some bagging along the Jersey shore. Hoping to hit the new McBeth Foundation course in Brooklyn, too.

And then we have our big road trip to Oregon this summer.

Nice. We used to go to Ocean City, MD or Rehoboth Beach when we were kids, but when I got a dog Dewey Beach was the place to go after Labor Day.

Cape Henlopen is a fun spin, Steady Ed course dating to 1978. Super entertaining trying to throw Wham-O Frisbees over dunes and pines on a windy day - not unusual for the ocean breeze to grab your disc and land it behind you.

The sun bouncing off the sand in the summer is no joke. And you work twice as hard walking in the sand on the course. Still lots of fun.

Got away for a mini trip for a couple days. Played 6 courses today on the way up to Door county, which I've never been to. Planning on hitting the other 6 up here tomorrow before heading down to Manitowoc on Monday hopefully. It's supposed to storm so we'll see if I bother staying there or heading home. I'm officially headed back to Wisconsin over the July 4th week. Ill have my daughter with me, but I hope to play at least a few early weekday morning rounds. There is an outside shot that i head up to Eagle River at some point to see my Uncle. If so, Lac du Flambeau is going down.

I'll be bouncing back and forth between the Chicago area and South Haven, MI over the July 4th week. Family vaca, but I also need to work. Bright side of that is I should be able to do some course bagging on the trips out and back.

I haven't been to Killen's in maybe 20 years but it used to have some of the worst p.i. I have ever seen. Congrats on 500.

I spent yesterday walking a very very promising property in the general area of Richmond. Will be a week or 2 before a decision is made but it could easily house the best course between Fredericksburg and Waller Mill.

Heading out to Huntsville, AL tonight for the next four-five days. I for sure plan on playing Brahan Springs, New Hope, Mastin Lake, Sharon Johnston, and Redstone Arsenel. Any other must plays in that area? Weather looks pretty terrible all weekend but I'm gonna play regardless. lol

@wellsbranch250 aren't you from this area? I thought I remember seeing that before. You have any suggestions that I wouldn't get from just course general course ratings?

I do live in Huntsville, but I am leaving for Mobile in about 3 hours, for work. I do get back Thursday Night and will be around all weekend. I'd be down to throw. FYI, Rocket City Blast is going on Friday Saturday and Sunday. Some courses wont be playable at certain times. John Hunt is booked fri sat sun, Mastin is booked fri sat sun, Tom Monroe aka Brahan is booked fri sat sun, Sharon Johnston is booked sat sun, new hope is booked fri sat, southside is booked fri, Uah is booked sun. Redstone is open, but requires a background check at gate 9. Sano costs $5. My favorites in no order are Mastin, Sano, Sharon, Redstone and Indian. I dont rate my own course, plus it is closed for the summer, not that i wouldn't show you parts of it.
