Has anybody played the course at Wildlife Prairie Park outside of Peoria? Says the course was built in 2010 but this is the first I've seen anything about it. Pictures look like it's solid and I know there is great land out there. With this, Megiddo and Sunset in Pekin the Peoria area has really grown into a nice little hotspot for DG.

Played it this weekend. It definitely seemed new; I'd doubt it was put in at all in 2010.

The land is disc golf heaven. Outstanding elevation and water.

That said, navigation and flow is an utter nightmare (even with the map and a lot of determination and searching!!) and I highly suggest waiting until signage is put in (or go with a guide).

The area in which the course was installed also is heavily used by mountain bikers which detracts from the round greatly. I'm not sure how wise it was to install a course in a place already kinda "claimed" (and rightfully so) by the bikers.

I figure the brutal nav, high entry fee ($9!!), and caliber of golf will keep most peeps away, tho...

A review is forthcoming probably tomorrow.

Drop Zone on Hole 1?

No drop zone. Your shot must come to rest in bounds.

There will be a layup zone if you don't want to go for the island and also a large landing zone on the island. Plenty of opportunities to EASILY lay up, whether or not players chose to do so is up to them.

I'm down. Been a while!

we'll have to schedule something in IN... since there are a bunch of courses I have not gotten to try yet.
Also Alan has never added the Fort Wayne courses to his list. ...that's something I'm still trying to convince him to look at!

This may not be the best place to ask but what the heck I'll ask anyways. Are there any sanctioned tourney directors most people try to steer clear of in the Indiana area? I've heard a few guys name directors who run tourneys they won't play in. Feel free to pm me if needed.
Wasn't trying to call anyone out. Just didn't want to drive 2-5 hours for a bad experience.

@ Arnie: Heck, I haven't even gotten over to Ft. Wayne yet! I can scoop Alan sometime and head your way, just hit us up when it's a good time. Or, if you're looking to meet somewhere in between, that's doable, too!

@ Da Beez: Re: tourney directors. I don't play sanctioned tourneys, but I haven't heard anything in this area about bad TDs or anything, for what that's worth.

Alright, thanks!

man this thread is dead lately! :(

If anyone isn't working this friday and wants to get out and throw... PM/Text me! Ill be around the NW suburbs of chicago in the early morning and then possibly heading towards Mishawaka courses!

Nice highlights of the old farts! Always good to see a video of a course I have played a few times.

Edit: 1st post as a trusted reviewer. Someday I'll join mashnut and notapro on the diamond level. ;)

Anyone not playing a tourney this weekend want to play Silver Fox on Sunday? I haven't played it since the new back 9 was out in.

So I'm curious about Fairfield. Is it worth the high rating? What might it compare to in WI, for those of you that have played up here? I've been working my way into northern IL to bag, and my next trip is going to have Fairfield on the itinerary.

Fairfield is a must play since the new layout opened. The White course is short but somewhat technical with lots of fun ace run holes. The Gold course is a monster, especially once you get into the woods (starting hole 7). Both courses are well worth the drive down to play. Course does get wet in areas, but it impacts the walks between holes, more than the holes themselves.

If I had to compare it to something, I would say its almost like a mix of UW Parkside and the Silver Lake courses.

In looking at your courses played, I'm thinking Fairfield will feel like a longer (gold) version of Lakewood Hills (blue) in a wilder setting. One weakness or strength of the Fairfield layout is whether you like having all of the mostly open holes in sequence (course starts with 5 and ends with 2) or scattered among the wooded holes which would be my preference as a designer but not possible at Fairfield.

Yes, it's worth the high rating. In a nutshell, it's a bigger/better version of Grey Fox/Red Fox in Silver Lake. I used to drive past Fairfield on my way to Silver Lake before the redesign.

Not that you really need a guide, but it's also my home course and I'd be happy to meet you there for a round.
