[Other] How much money did you spend to DG this year?

I played 27 tournaments this year. If you take a conservative $40 each, that alone comes out to $1,080. Add in traveling to all of those tournaments, a new basket, and a golf mahal... maybe $3,000?

Is that too much?

$600 +, but I am buying for four.......and went a little crazy. The previous year I spent $2000 + on ball golf and we already had all our gear! I don't count food or fuel or Gatorade.......that's all stuff you use no matter what. May have burned a few hundred dollars in fuel that I wouldn't have other wise. One 4 hr road trip to camp n play in the hills.

Bought a couple bags, a couple dozen discs, a handful of road trips and tourneys ---- I would estimate about $800-900 spent.

If we're talking gear alone, it would be around $350.

Highbridge trip alone with hotel and gas for a week was near a grand...

And disc golf is a cheap sport?! I'm not adding up anymore stuff lol...

that is why i dont play ball golf. it is super expensive oh and i suck at it!!!

:wall:

To me, the two sports are very similar and addictive in the same ways. The NLT thing keeping me from improving at disc golf how much my body can take. With ball golf $ is always a factor in how much time you can spend on the course. I was knocking on the door of breaking eighty in ball golf and got my first eagle last year. Disc golf has taken over and don't see it changing anytime soon.

Probably less than $100. I've stopped buying new releases. I spent my first year trying out a bunch of different molds. And while that was fun, it definitely didn't help my game. So after settling on the molds that I want to throw, I've been extremely loyal. This is only for discs though. I've spent quite a bit on gas, etc.

My largest expenditure was far and away gas but I can't ballpark it, discs ~$200, and everything else combined <$100. I love this game haha

Probably around $500 bucks, I hope. I'm too scared to count it all up. This past June was my first year in and I've had to go through a lot of discs to find out which ones I like.

Also bought a Lat64 bag and love it. The other night I told her I might want to get a backpack bag (a grip). She wasn't happy to hear that. The Lat bag is my 3rd since I started.

She said you are not spending another $100 bucks on a bag. You just got that one. I said that's cute that you think a Grip bag only cost $100 dollars.

Probably $1500
$400 on discs
$300 on a new Mahal
$800 on 3 Disc Golf Vacations to KC, Justin Trails in WI and Selah Ranch.

thinking about this is hurting my head
i refuse to add it up
my wife might find/figure it out
and that wouldnt be good

Are you talking to a significant other or your lat bag here? :)

I'm actually OCD enough to keep a rough balance sheet on this info. I had a net outlay of about $800 this year, as I played about 40 tournaments, including the inaugural National Senior Games, BG Ams, etc.

So tourney costs were pretty steep. I don't play pro, but do sell off most of my merch winnings back on here. Played all three of our weekly league seasons, and even went out and bagged 50-60 new courses (culminating in my road trip this week to see my folks in Texas, playing 7 new states - the best course was Shawshank!)

Threw six aces for the year, placed 1st or 2nd in about ten events (tourneys, leagues, and series), became a gold level trusted reviewer on here, made a ton of friends, and improved my health (if not my weight, yet). So, compared to a gym membership or a quality piece of exercise equipment, I think it was a fair trade off. Had tons of fun, anyway! :p

^^^JA, you're a DGing Beast.

I've spent way too much on disc, maybe a grand.

I would say most of my expenditures came on gas (to/from courses), maybe $100 on discs (lots of found discs turned into traded discs), $100 on shipping for trades, SS, etc, and $176 for a new Grip bag. Maybe another $150 for the Highbridge trip (probably more than that). All added up, probably in the 800-900 range.

Around $600 for new discs (I work within a mile of GGGT)

$300 for gas to hit new courses around MN, IA, and WI.

$150 for medical - got posion ivy on my shin playing a new course in Lent Township, ended up getting infected and had to go to urgent care, 10 days of antibiotics and now I have scar on shin to remind me to take caution on new courses. Next year I'll be wearing socks that cover my shins at all new courses......
