[Mids] RDG Gila: Overstable Mid

Anyone else been throwing these a bunch? I have wanted this good of a stable Comet compliment a while. I carried Gila, Beat fossil gila, MJ Comet, Comet for a while but I felt like something in the middle would just cover so much more. I can rock Gila, Iguana, Flippy Comet and cover everything I could want. The Iguana can shape so many lines:
It does long turnovers that flatten and just move right for days.
It does flip up to flat dead straight finish.
It does sweeping hyzers.
It handles cross and headwinds.
It powers down and doesn't act overstable.
It goes far and doesn't get flippy.

If I could only bag 1 mid, this is now a no brainer.

Man 2 days in a row I am failing at the internet. I had the Iguana and Gila thread open and thought I was posting in the Iguana thread downside of posting at work I suppose, work is distracting from my frisbee talk. Gila is amazing, even better when paired with an Iguana...

I'm carrying both with a Justice as an OS bookend, and it's a formidable lineup. The Glow Gila and Amber make an amazing pairing.

I toss a justice in when its windy or for tourneys. I think it would be a staple at low elevation. Good bookend compliment to the Gila/Iguana who want the utility beef.

Any Reptiles out there know which run/color/weight Gila is the most overstable/has the highest PLH? I compared the PLH on my current stock of Gilas and was surprised to see my 173 yellow Amber biter stamp having the lowest! This is a good thing because I was already considering getting another premium Gila closer to 180. There looks to be a lot of 177-180 options available right now on the site. Would love to find one with a higher PLH than my yellow 173 Amber. Could complement each other nicely while beating in my base plastics to lasers. Any thoughts?

Pic is sorted by PLH from low to high, left to right, if interested.

In my experience this is the order of stability; Flat Fossil, Glow, Amber, Tarpit, Armor and the recent Armor with some dome is actually pretty glidy and a great complement to a fresh glow or fossil.

It's not really premium but if they have a Glow above 175 that's an amazing run. Like a grippy Pyro in flight.

Every Gila I've thrown is amazing. Never tried an Armor or anything above 175 though. I aim to fix that. Looks like they're out of stock of Armors unfortunately. The hunt begins. Where does a fella get a 180 Armor these days, eh comrades?

Side note: Any difference between the biter stamp and circle stamp ambers?

Let me see if I have one, I think both of my Armors are lighter. The stamp doesn't tell you a ton, but the most recent run is pearly and really pretty but has some dome. Mine is a circle stamp, while the slightly older one is a biter that is pretty flat.

I believe it was the first batch of armor (the debut of the circle stamp) is very flat and matches my fossils in PLH and how flat it is. It may still be my most OS despite having been in and out of the bag a few years and spent a chunk of a year in the bottom of a pond. Its my favorite FH and wind Gila. Also my favorite gila to crush on BH.

Generally I have been just carrying an Amber from the most recent run (which is a little more workable out of the box than my flat beat amber) and a amber Iguana for simplicity. When I am carrying more I often have a Glow and a broken in fossil in place of the amber for more line options. Then the Cobalt iguana to bookend my amber...

I can get some PLH pics of the runs I currently have later today. My older ambers may be a touch higher than my flat armor I know they are beef.

You speak of Ambers with some dome to em. I know not of such a thing! I'm intrigued.

Here's my Biter stamp 173g Amber profile. It may not be quite as flat flat as my fossils but it is flat flat just the same. If I squint hard enough I can see the tiniest of rises but it's pretty much flat from shoulder to shoulder.

The most recent ambers are softer and definitely have more dome than I have seen on a gila. Yours looks to fit between my older flatter Ambers and the most recent run. None of my Amber are as flat as the flatter fossil or flat armors, but we are starting to get into the splitting hairs department. I can try to snap a picture this afternoon with the newer Amber and older/armor/fossil

When you say most recent Ambers, how recent is recent? My Amber is from November. Decently recent, arguably.

Yellow on the right is a basically flat biter stamp, probably the exact run you have.

Purple is slightly newer pearly plastic, circle stamp and the tiniest hint of dome. More glide on this guy.

Pretty sure that is the most recent batch. I am sorry I didn't get pictures, I do believe mine has a little more dome than that. Is yours on the softer side? Not G* or anything crazy but kinda like most translucent K1?

If it's raining when I get off work I will probably be getting some pics of stuff to sell, so I will get the Gilas out too. If its nice out, no promises I am not on the course.

The one Armor I have left is also yellow. Probably the same run, I do not believe there have been too many armor runs.

Some of the new stuff, especially those burple iguanas have been so pearly!

While we are in here talking Gila: Hey Jamie, what are the odds of some Cobalt Gila in the future? I imagine they would be tough to get that dome on in the softer plastic but that cobalt just feels nice and breaks in even better.

The iguanas are beautiful, I have a white and a navy that are both so pretty. Gila in that plastic would be dope.

Alright here are my PLH and Dome photos.

Red on the left is an older, approx 2019 Amber Gila, these are about what I consider a standard dome height for Gila, not as flat as fossils or the really flat armor run but not the kind of dome the new gummier ambers.

Pink on right is the newer gummy amber.

PLH, the Red is noticably higher, but its quite minimal the pink has great HSS and is still overstable. Between the dome and PLH wind is the main time I would reach for one of the more OS gila.

Dome comparison. As mentioned, its not an extreme dome by any means, just a good mild dome on what's previously been a fairly flat disc.

Here is a white fossil that, along with my flat armor, is the flatter end of the spectrum. These are FLAT almost no shoulder.

Got a pink 180 amber circle stamp Gila and one of the glow Fossil flex Scales coming today. Today will be a goooood day. I'm hoping I get some dome like your pink Gila! Either way though, I'm just excited to have a 180 Gila. My universe's balance will finally be restored.
