I recently had a discussion/debate with a few guys while waiting to tee off... The premise of the discussion was simply... Do the specialty run discs really make a difference?

It was interesting i got 5 different answers and contrasting views.

- "They can, but it's the thrower not the disc."
- "Absolutely, when you figure out <when> you need them they make a huge difference.
- "No, i dont like to rely on a disc i might not find again."
- "absolutely, obviously you have tried a <X> disc" <- (CE Eagle)
- Sometimes, but is it worth the hassle?

My Answer
- "Absolutely, but not all of them. But when you find one that is good, it does make a clear difference.

My Analysis (reviews of disc runs)

Things i would recommend:
Champion Roc
Champion Glow Gazelle
Champion Glow Firebird (if you can handle it)

[Champion] Teerex-X (a more overstable Wraith....moved up to Destroyer, never looked back)
Champion XD (Not sure it really is anything more than a more durable version)

Champion Gator (did not make much of a difference)
Champion (gummy) Rhyno (not much of a difference - mine, not very floppy)
Cryztal Buzzz (Nice, but not sure it was worth the hassle and made enough of a difference)
(Wood) Aviar - (No difference, other than the Disc smelled like wood. - Yes i smelled it,)

Different runs can fly different. Hell they can be a different mold. Look at all the variations the TeeRex has gone through. But the enviroment the discs cool in can affect stability, speed and glide so specific runs do have an effect. That said, I don't like to throw anything rare/tough to replace so I don't bother with them even if they're the best thing ever.
