I am going to Lake Forest to visit some friends. I am going to play La mirada for sure what other courses would you suggest?
You should play GOAT HILL @ CENTER CITY. It is the best course near Lake Forest, and anybody who disagrees clearly has not played it yet. Its only about a half hour from South OC.
Roadtripstuff advised the Bakersfield courses, but in my opinion, 2 1/2 hours is quite a ways to drive to play those courses. I mean, they are good, but if you are going to drive that far, go to Lake Casitas.
Chavez would not be a good idea to play this time of year, unless of course you like finding discs in weeds that exceed 8 feet tall. Other times of the year, it is one of my favorites.
^Roadtripstuff, I don't know if you know your way around California, but Bakersfield is in no way "on the way" to or from Mammoth Lakes. You would have to swoop all the way down to Palmdale then work your way north to get up there. In the end, it would still be a 2 1/2 hour drive down to Lake Forest from there. The other route, over Tioga Pass in Yosemite, is closed.
^Fair enough, but I would pay money to see somebody get from Mammoth Lakes to Bakersfield over that mountain pass in under 9 hours. The more intuitive route is to take 395 -> 14 -> 58. Google says its about the same time but it takes much longer to go over the mountain.
Nonetheless, if the OP is willing to make that detour, remember that the two Hart Park courses take an entire day to play. They are both extremely long, and the mountain course is particularly rugged. Totally worth it though!
I am leaving Tuesday 4/26 and returning Thursday 4/28. It is a short trip but this is my first time getting 3 days off in week in a long time. I am excited to play some perment courses.
OP lives in Mammoth Lakes, which is only a couple of hours from Tahoe. I wasn't suggesting he take a sidetrip from LA.
Look, Baz! Something shiny!Sorry, you had me all confoozled
