I went to Tech my freshmen year and I recall Makenzie park in Lubbock being one of my faves. Probably not worth the 2 and a half hour drive from Abilene on its own, but if you're ever up that way you should check it out. It has a pretty epic cliff shot over trees and a river onto a peninsula where the basket is located.
I'm sorry :lol: I don't go up that way much, but on occasion I do. I'll be sure and check it out.

There is one 18 hole course and four 9 holes in the B/CS area. Research is the 18 hole course which is located on the very west side of campus (near University and 2818.) While its not technical, I would call it a course that requires good driving placement. Baskets are often guarded by trees and some line shaping comes into play. Not many trees, some water. Wolf Pen Creek (near the mall, at Holleman and Dartmouth,) is the most challenging 9 hole, and some feel is a better course than Research. Holes 1-4 are open and long-ish, and 5-9 all have water in play. Oaks park (off Harvey,) makes for a good putter round. Every hole is between 175' and 250', as I recall. Austin's colony and Bonham are both up in Bryan, I would mostly stick to the first three.

What are you looking to study at A&M? I have had some frustrations with my experience in the kinesiology department, both in advising and curriculum requirements. I will say that it is very easy to get plugged in with organizations, sports, etc. to find your fit amongst so many students. They have a fairly active DG Club, club sports, frats, service organizations, etc.
Political Science. I'm still undecided and that's why I stayed here in Abilene after high school in the first place (Hardin-Simmons), but A&M's poly sci program is good and I've always wanted to be in Aggieland anyways.

To be honest, when I played the fall league this past semester it was my first organized competition in disc golf, so I'm probably not the best gauge of what's good or bad level of play. I feel we get pretty good turnouts at tourneys, we do have a few people come in from Houston and Austin. If you were going to come out, I would recommend Monster Fling, I believe they have it every December and May. They play the 18 at Research backwards and put in an extra 9 on the dog park side of the park. Two rounds on each course. It should be up at the Stop Crying site listed above eventually.
