I always like to know where people are from and got curious how many people on this board are from/live in Texas. So, if you're from or live in the great state of Texas post here! Where are you from/live, home course, favorite course, etc.

I'm from Abilene out here in West Texas. There are 3 courses here, but my favorite is Cal Young Park. My favorite course I've played is Lewisville Lake Park (even though it ate me alive!).

The stars at night are big and bright...... :p

I'm from Dallas and my home course I guess would be BB Owens, the local pitch and putt. Favorite courses are Lester Lorch, Turner, Veterans, Towne Lake, Lewisville, etc. We are course rich here in DFW.

I'm actually going to play Lake Lewisville tomorrow. Best course to play after a rain cause it's all sand and clay.

Greetings from down Acadia way in deep, deep SE Texas.

I live in Orange, Texas, which is right on I-10 juuuust inside the border of the state.

Favorite course is Klein Park in Beaumont, home course is the very aptly named Copperhead at Clairborn Park in Vidor.

Winter brings it's own delights, instead of hot n' swampy it is cold n' extra extra swampy!!!

Greetings from Humble, TX. My home course is River Grove Park in Kingwood, TX.

i love most courses i play around here and havnt really ventured off to other parts of tx to see whats there.

I live in the Austin area(san marcos)

Booter already linked most of my favorites and I can't argue with any of them. Austin and the surrounding metroplex is a disc golf mecca for sure.

Home Courses:
-TxState University West Campus Park - A course on campus, huge luxury for after class
http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=936\
-Kyle Steeplechase - Either love it or hate it kinda course. I love it
http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=1871

Fav New Course:
-MetCenter: Only problem is it floods all the time. Flat/long/open course for more advanced arms. Aka Steeplechase on steroids.

It is going to be very hard to make me leave the Austin area when I graduate next year

College Station for school, Conroe is my hometown.

I learned to play at McDade park (Conroe) in high school, still one of my favorites and still one of the most challenging.

I've only played a couple Austin courses, but it is definitely worth the trip for a DG experience.

I've never made it down to Austin to play any courses there, but it's something I hope to do this summer. The closest I've gotten into CenTex for disc golf is playing the course in Brady. It's a pretty nice course and I got to play with the course designer (Larry Mann) while I was there.

There's not much reason to travel farther west than the DFW for courses, but Abilene is improving. We currently have an 18, 10, and 9 hole courses but the 18 is being expanded to 36, the 9 is being expanded to 18 and the 10 hole course just had concrete tee pads put in. Outside of the large metro areas we have as many courses as any other town in Texas.

How are the courses in College Station? I'm considering transferring to A&M next semester, but I'll also be down that way to catch some Aggie baseball games once the season rolls around.

I keep wanting to go over to college station and play one of those tourneys they always have. Last summer it seemed someone in the area was hosting a bunch of 1 day tourneys which fits my schedule. how is the level of play out there?

Iceman, I went to Tech my freshmen year and I recall Makenzie park in Lubbock being one of my faves. Probably not worth the 2 and a half hour drive from Abilene on its own, but if you're ever up that way you should check it out. It has a pretty epic cliff shot over trees and a river onto a peninsula where the basket is located.

There is one 18 hole course and four 9 holes in the B/CS area. Research is the 18 hole course which is located on the very west side of campus (near University and 2818.) While its not technical, I would call it a course that requires good driving placement. Baskets are often guarded by trees and some line shaping comes into play. Not many trees, some water. Wolf Pen Creek (near the mall, at Holleman and Dartmouth,) is the most challenging 9 hole, and some feel is a better course than Research. Holes 1-4 are open and long-ish, and 5-9 all have water in play. Oaks park (off Harvey,) makes for a good putter round. Every hole is between 175' and 250', as I recall. Austin's colony and Bonham are both up in Bryan, I would mostly stick to the first three.

There's a local guy who puts on tournaments, which can be found at http://www.stopcryingdiscgolf.com/. There is a page on that site for the A&M DGC as well.

What are you looking to study at A&M? I have had some frustrations with my experience in the kinesiology department, both in advising and curriculum requirements. I will say that it is very easy to get plugged in with organizations, sports, etc. to find your fit amongst so many students. They have a fairly active DG Club, club sports, frats, service organizations, etc.

To be honest, when I played the fall league this past semester it was my first organized competition in disc golf, so I'm probably not the best gauge of what's good or bad level of play. I feel we get pretty good turnouts at tourneys, we do have a few people come in from Houston and Austin. If you were going to come out, I would recommend Monster Fling, I believe they have it every December and May. They play the 18 at Research backwards and put in an extra 9 on the dog park side of the park. Two rounds on each course. It should be up at the Stop Crying site listed above eventually.

I'm sorry  I don't go up that way much, but on occasion I do. I'll be sure and check it out.

Political Science. I'm still undecided and that's why I stayed here in Abilene after high school in the first place (Hardin-Simmons), but A&M's poly sci program is good and I've always wanted to be in Aggieland anyways.

Since College Station is about the same distance from Houston as it is From Austin there seems to be a mix of about 1/3 local, 1/3 from Austin, and 1/3 from Houston in their tournaments and the folks willing to travel that far are normally pretty competitive.

S S Austin

Played for my last 3 semesters at TX State
worked at Circle R for 2 years, played there since my first round in 2004.
Now I work at Disc Nation
I do Circle C most often
still haven't been to Ridge or Met. ... unexplainable
