Micro course for mini humans

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 18, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Excellent post-mounted tee signs on every hole and a course map on the side of the building by hole #1. DGA Mach baskets were solidly mounted and caught well. Remarkably nice equipment for a course intended for children.

Mild elevation changes are used well. For example, #9 is only 39' and downhill to boot. Ace run, right? Well yes, but if you fail to hit metal you may have a comeback putt as long as your tee shot.

Other pros include parking nearby, a gorgeous mountain setting, and proximity to the outstanding Championship course. I think there were restrooms but did not check them out.

Not a bad warm-up before playing the main course.

Cons:

If you are an able-bodied adult you will find this course extremely short. The Micro course length is a Micro-scopic 702' to 763'. Hole lengths average around 80' and range from 39' to 155.' Quite a few individual holes on the main course are longer than the entire micro course.

The course plays close to playground equipment and what looks like an activity center for children. These activities could be at risk from errant discs, especially those thrown by youngsters (ask me how I know . . .). Course rules limit play to putters and midranges – no drivers – which somewhat mitigates the risk.

Hanging branches interfere with the tees for #5 and #7 and should be trimmed.

Other Thoughts:

This is a children's course so the holes are suitably short. One tee and one basket per hole, except #4 has short and long tees. Every hole is par 2 except #5 and the long tee on #4, both around 150' long par 3 holes.

Grass tees were in good shape and are suitable for a course of this length. Most tees are marked by a toe board. Suggested donation of $10 to play both courses on site (a bargain, imo).

This course is well-designed for the intended audience and a quick amusement for the non-intended audience. Factoring in the top notch equipment I settled on a rating of 1.5.
