-Alsip DGC is a great place to take first timers, small kids, and those with physical limitations.
-Only 7 (very short) holes makes for a quick round that's the opposite of strenuous.
-Only the 2nd hole exceeds 200' (barely) and holes 5 & 6 are <100'.
-This is a Discgolfpark course, so you can expect their proprietary baskets, turf tees and descriptive signs. The usual course map too.
-The only place to potentially get confused on where to go is the transition from 3 to 4 and there's a nice sign to show you the way.
-A few holes force you to shape shots: 3 has a tree right in between the tee and basket, 6 is a tiiight gauntlet, and 7's basket is visible through a window between 2 mature tree trunks that guard the green.

-For all but the groups I mentioned in the first sentence, this course is way too easy.
-Although 4, 5, & 6 are in a wooded section of the park, 4 & 5 don't really have any obstacles.
-This is a well loved neighborhood park and the walking trails get busy on nice days. You may need to wait for multiple groups of walkers to clear on 4, 5, & 6.
-No tee sign for hole 1. Keep your eyes open for the turf tee 15' to the right of the walking path, about halfway to the hard right turn in the path.
-Hole 1 has been rerouted since I last played here. It appears that the walking path was rerouted, which led to the change. New hole is <150' and the green is on the far side of the walking path. I'm guessing the original designer wasn't consulted, because I think there is potential for a better and safer hole here.
-Hole 7 (the final hole) finishes a long way away from the parking lot.

-Super quick play (<15 min for a solo round with no waiting), but it may take longer to get in or out than anticipated if you catch a freight train. The line runs on a diagonal and unless you know where the viaducts are you may be stuck waiting a while.
-As long as the way is clear, I'd recommend finishing your round by teeing from near 7's basket to 1's basket. Then play from the adjacent walking path to the practice basket. This will give you nine holes and safari 8 is probably at least 325' while safari 9 is around 300'.
-Anyone who grew up in the Chicago area watching local tv probably knows the town of Alsip as the home of the Swap-a-rama flea market.

Alsip DGC is a really nice course for beginnrs or absolute noobs. It's even kind of fun for rec level players like myself. The course won't take more than a half an hour to play, regardless of you skill level. Great place to go ace hunting and work on your short game.It's another Dana Vicich designed DiscGolfPark course in the area.

The baskets here are, the oft confused with Discatcher, DiscGolfPark Pro's. It makes sense since they both look pretty much identical and both catch great. All were mounted nicely and stand out great. One pin position per hole.

The tees are green artificial turf. They're on the smaller side but are more than suitable for a course of this length. All were level and had decent traction. Can't say how they play when wet or how well they age but I had no issues with them.

The tee signs are, shockingly, DiscGolfPark ones. These are fine. Nothing amazing but they have all the relevant info. Generic hole map, hole #, distance, par and next tee arrow. Plenty serviceable. There's even a nice tee sign/map after hole 3 with a map of the next 3 holes which are just down the path.

The course is permanent and free to play, and like I mentioned above, is great for newer players. If I lived nearby I'd probably play this one in the winter quite a bit actually.

The flow of the course is pretty easy to follow and there are next tee arrows hanging from the bottom of the cage of the previous basket. It would be nearly impossible to get lost or even turned around here.

The walking path can come into play on the majority of the holes. And for a course seemingly designed for newer players, is not the best design I've ever seen. It seems like an very heavily traveled path. And it can come into play on either side of the fairway on holes 4-6.

Not sure if it was possible of not, but it was a shame that the area north of hole 4 couldn't be used to either add a couple holes to make it 9 or at least lengthen out holes 4 and 5. Both of which are under 100 ft and play near where the 2 sections of walking trails meet up with each other. It looked like it not only widened out to the north but that there was room to make the holes safer in the process.

As EspressoPatronum mentioned a couple reviews back, hole 6 doesn't really have a fair line to the pin. I'm not sure what the intended line is supposed to be. I didn't see one.

It's not the worst 7 hole course I've ever played probably. I haven't played a whole ton of 7 hole courses though. It goes without saying that this is one that should only be played but course baggers who have to play them all. It's not bad in that regard. The potential safety issues from inexperienced players learning the game flicking champ destroyers is going to drag my rating down a bit. But it wasn't too high to begin with.

Short course, great for beginners or little kids learning to throw. (or that want to just tag along)

Short distance holes that are not very challenging. Also only 7 holes, though you can improvise and make 2 more on the way back.

You can make this 9 holes by throwing back towards hole 1 from hole 7 basket. Then use the warm up basket near the lot as hole 9, throwing from basket 1.

The Alsip DiscGolfPark is nestled behind an aquatic center along with some baseball fields and walking paths. This course is one of the simplest you play, but actually has some challenging obstacles so that it can benefit more than just beginners. With several sub-200 foot holes and 2 holes below 100 feet, you won't be getting much practice on your range, but the short holes do force you to hit a line in places.

This park is very clean and I honestly had fun playing it despite the simplicity. I'm a little confused as to why some of the holes were so short, as it seems like there is room to expand further along the wooded corridor between holes 4 and 5. It's possible the designers didn't want to further the risk of interfering with the walking path, but I could see this course expanding to 9 holes or lengthening some of the existing holes fairly easily.

I enjoyed the challenge of the wooded shots on holes 4-6, although hole 6 was a little frustrating. I'm all for challenging holes, but hole 6 didn't really have much of a line to it. Yes, this hole is under 100', so it's not going to put you out that bad. However, there were tree branches hanging right around the chains about 5' from it, so there's really no conceivable way to hit the chains with a high degree of confidence. A little trimming here could go a long way.

I didn't mind the turf tees, but I may have if it were wet. The baskets looked like DISCatchers but where an orangey-yellow I've never seen before. They are very visible and I liked it. All in all, the course is a quality course in a well-maintained park, it just doesn't have the distance or wow factor of others. It's definitely not a course you're going to drive out of your way for, but it does seem like it would be a great community course for introducing new people to disc golf. I'm glad to see more and more of these popping up so everyone gets to give our great sport a try.

This brand new seven basket course is a bit hidden from 119th street. A warm up basket next to the parking lot will point you toward the course. Basket One and Two are on the periphery of a baseball field and offer no real challenge to a seasoned player. Basket three forces players to throw a hyzer to get to the basket. Baskets four, five and six have a few trees to maneuver and play in the back next to a creek. Seven brings players back to the baseball field with the fairway having a few large trees blocking a path to the basket. Excellent tee signs provide distance, fairways and potential disc path. The tees are artificial turf. This course is ideal for beginners.

Most seasoned players will be disappointed with the short distances and lack of challenges. If the ball field is in use, half the course is unplayable. Also, the course is flanked by a pedestrian path that may cause wait times before throwing. Curious onlookers will disturb players as shots are attempted.

The parking lot is easy to access but may be full when school is in session or it is a sunny weekend and families crowd the park. Five of the seven baskets can be aced without too much trouble. One of the course planners said that the course is to be expanded to nine soon.
