Pros:
- Short, park-style-y, pitch and putt, deuce- or- die, nine hole course scattered about Bethel College's attractive campus.
- Signs and baskets. Yep, they're there.
- Tee pads are basically natural areas (or in some cases, sidewalks) located nebulously near the signs.
- A few redeeming holes (#'s 8 and 9 aren't terrible) keep this from being a complete wash.
Cons:
- Short and annoying hole designs. Pitch and putt to the highest degree, without much in the way of obstacles to make things interesting.
- Hole # 5's basket had some sort of mobile piece of equipment parked *directly* in front of the basket, blocking it. It looks to have been put there on a more or less permanent basis? It definitely had the air of something that hadn't been moved in a bit.
- So somebody decided to make a crowded unsafe disc golf course on a crowded campus full of students, dorms, dining halls, etc. Perhaps there are times when the kids aren't completely everywhere, but I'm guessing most rounds here are going to be frustrating from a "dodge the student population" aspect.
- Navigation and routing are a bit suspect. After #2, cross the parking lot and go behind the adjacent building (along the fence) to find #3's tee. #6 is also a bit of a chore to find.
Other Thoughts:
- Why do people insist on installing courses with terrible holes, in busy, crowded locations, for niche populations, that end up being more of a detracting eyesore than an amenity? If I attended Bethel, I'd cringe every single time I saw one of those signs installed right along the sidewalk.
- Perhaps could've squeezed out five believable, fun holes from the property, but there would still have been safety issues galore.
