Best DG course in Cambridge

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 1, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course surprised me in a good way! I would give it a higher rating if it had cement/turf tees.

Great irrigation. I played just after a heavy rainfall and the course was draining well, still soupy but playable.

Several holes the greens we're very fast because of the basket placement (# 4, 7, 10, 16, 18)

Generic tee signs, but very useful tee signs as they had a directional arrow pointing in the direction of the next tee. The tee signs also allowed the player to learn about various wildlife that could be found in the courses area. Good flow, I didn't need any help finding the next tee after observing each tee sign.

Many holes we're very challenging considering it's not a very long course.

Water comes into play on several holes. I liked hole # 11, flat fairway flowing towards the right, with a blind creek down towards the end of the hole. To get to the basket one must go over a very small ditch (that today retained water). Holes # 6 and 7 the lake comes into play.

Hole 18 is a good finishing hole at this course. It's the longest hole. Over 600 feet long. Don't go right, you'll be in a marshy area. If you go left it's okay. No trouble on the left side of the fairway and it elevated on the left side. The basket is elevated and on a very steep hill in which I can see a lot of roll a ways

Cons:

Dirt tees and after a hard rain like it was today, the teeing area can get a little greasy. I'd suggest just finding a safe area to throw from to prevent injury or falling down.

Basket # 10 in atop of a hill without stairs. I didn't fall down going down the hill. But I can see someone falling down the hill if they weren't careful. I transverse the hill from the back side of the green (not as steep as the side towards the next fairway)

No benches. I think it was hole # 14 till I saw a fallen tree to sit on a take a break.

No Restrooms at course

No Kiosk

Only one teeing area for each hole

Other Thoughts:

As you cross the R/R tracks follow the gravel road to the right of the Shon Lenzo's Nature space sign to the parking lot a top of the hill. 1st hole to the bottom of the hill (to the left of 18's basket)

No restrooms at park, but there's a laundromat in the strip mall not to far from the course as is other fast food restaurants.

Only couple miles from the I-77/ I-70 interchange.

Udisc states that this is an object course. Today all 18 baskets we're present!!

Nice new course

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 13, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a very nicely laid out fairly short new course, and it's literally just minutes off the highway exit. Yet it seems very remote for being where it is. The signage is excellent. Water (a lake) could come into play on some of the early holes. And it has some fairly unique baskets, with 9 being probably 10 feet above ground level, and 10 being at the top of a small hill, with a steep drop off behind it. We arrived late in the day on our way to Indiana, and only played the first 11 holes due to darkness setting in. But I thought that since there were no reviews yet, I should say something, and we did walk the rest of the course on our way out. It's a nice course, with a nice mix of fairly open and not too heavily wooded holes. What rough there is is mostly grass rather than briars and brush. It's well worth a stop if you're passing by.

Cons:

I didn't see any rest rooms or porta-potties. It was muddy in places, which I think may be a common feature. The hill on hole 10 was, to my old mind and body, treacherously slick, and could use a handrail or rope. Hole 18 seems overly long, just to get you back to the parking lot. I don't have a big arm, and am not a fan of long, straight, open holes. There's no course map (yet?) on dgcoursereview. Tee pads are dirt/grass, I don't find that a problem but some may consider it a con.

Other Thoughts:

I really liked this course, and will try to stop again when I'm passing by. It's a nice addition to the Ohio disc golf scene. Someone put a lot of thought into the layout, and the maintenance seemed good.
