5 Baskets in a School Yard 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 28, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

- 5 DISCatcher baskets with a level mounting and some irrelevant numbers on the bands.
- Well maintained school grounds.
- Decent "hole" lengths for a school track. Parentheses used because there aren't marked tees. Just basing this hole length comment off of UDisc mapping.
- A few nice big old trees in play.
- Beautiful mountain scenery.
- Free to play. Open to the public outside of school hours.

Cons:

- No infrastructure outside of the baskets. No map, tee surfaces, tee signs, or directional aids.
- 5 baskets for 9 holes. 1 & 9, 2 & 8, 3 & 7, 4 & 6 all throw to shared targets. None have the correct numbers on them. Appears they came from another old course.
- A tall fence with chain link spikes runs along Holes 1, 2, 8, and 9. Easy to toss a disc over and it's pretty hairy on the other side. Also a fairly long walk to avoid the fence spikes and get all the way north where you can get around the fence to search for a disc.
- Baskets 3/7 and 4/6 are really close to the outfield fence of the baseball diamond. At least there's a gate to get in and out.
- 8 plays across a different small ball field and a pavilion is in play on Hole 9.
- Really flat piece of land. Probably angles toward the river but it's not noticeable.

Other Thoughts:

Somebody got 5 baskets to put out in the schoolyard which is neat! But as an actual golf course this is lacking any substance. Baskets right by fences and other potential user conflicts don't do anyone any favors. It is a pretty area and a well maintained property so for a stretch of the legs or some practice throwing you could do way worse. Not too bad of a detour off of I-90 so there's that if you're looking for a quick pelt. Otherwise, I can't see much use outside of some local practice throwers and the school PE classes. I don't see myself ever stopping here again.
