Meh..not disappointed, but not wowed.. 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Another option in Lake County. Nice white MachX baskets. Beautiful scenery. Usually nearly have the course to yourself. Easy/nice walk. Good opportunity to use/practice drivers, since Highland Springs typically doesn't justify their use. 2 sets of tees, with the blue being very long. Great place to test new discs, since there are a lot of open shots. If you get tired of the Highland Springs trees swatting your plastic to the ground, change it up and check out this course. While there are still lots of trees, most are around the baskets. Apparently this course was set up to have the goods to host ultra top tier major events in the future. With that in mind, at my current skill level my distance is still slowly growing...throwing further here would definitely help the fun factor. I played the blue tee on #1, and the red on the rest.

Cons:

Tough to locate tee markers/pads which are just dirt or grass areas, with maybe a flat marker or an old painted disc laying flat, spiked in the ground, but usually pretty level. Definitely hard to locate most if not all of them the first time. Not the most exciting course I've seen/played, to me it's a little boring but probably has to do with my capabilities..but I like it for the different style it offers vs Highland Springs. Pay to play, but that's not really a con to me...I'd rather pay and have it around than have it be free and close. It's only $6...totally fair. Also the listing is a little off. You can disc golf anytime the course is open (they close some days in the winter), as long as there is not a ball golf event (rare). Just maybe call first to double check your time frame, just in case.

Other Thoughts:

The course may or may not , wow you, but the scenery sure will. This poor ball golf course has been struggling for awhile now. They installed a professionally designed disc golf course a few years back, and have had some cool tournaments and such. Lake County itself has been hit hard the last few years by fires, and everything is challenging. I appreciate the owner doing what he can to keep the doors open in these tough times. While it's not the greatest course in my opinion..it is totally worth playing and a good time. The location and scenery are beautiful, playing in the shadow of Mt. Konocti (a volcano).... it's tough to lose plastic there other than 3 or so holes with water or sinking mud to swallow a disc. Make a trip out to play Buckingham, totally worth it, and definitely recommended.
