This course was a fantastic companion to the park side course setup for Duck Golf 35. Heard a ton of great reviews about it last year and after finally being able to play it this year can confirm the awesomeness that is the campsite course. There is a great mix of long and short holes that will challenge even the best players. The basket placements offered a good amount of challenge and allowed for a number of risk or reward shots. I only hope that the park can find a way incorporate this as a permanent use of the campsite area once the camping season is done. This is the second temporary course of Conrad's that I have played and each time I think how awesome and evil he is.

Only cons is it only open during special events and not longer.

Great I finally got to pay it and can't wait to play it again next time it's available.

Course has a lot of variety (Open field holes that close into tight woods, island shot w/ OB, dog leg rights, dog leg lefts, wooded holes), long holes, medium holes, short holes.

Not permanent, natural tees, no water shots, grills & picnic tables can get in the way if you done goofed - but what's fun without a little bit of punishment?

No alcohol

Great course design, especially given what there was to work with.

The T1s are amaaaaazing.

Good use of available land
Good variety of hole length/styles (definitely lefty-friendly though!)
A couple of holes let you unload, but mostly it's technical woods golf with excellent fairways
Missing fairways makes it hard to get par sometimes, but it's not impossible to get back to where you want to be

It's only open a few weeks per year
Because it's a temporary course, they can't get rid of all of the minor obstacles (grills & firepits, to name some). They are not often in the way, but they can obstruct shots if you get off the fairway.
Teepads are not great - I've seen someone slip and fall as they threw a drive and watched them gash their knee. They did seem better the second weekend it way open, however.

The design lets AM players compete as the par for the each hole is doable for most players. A well balanced blend of shots that doesn't favor lefties or righties ( lefty here )...As a Lefty, it is refreshing to see a pretty even playing field.

It's a temp course and has picnic tables and fire pits in some greens.

As it is a temp course, the testament of the volunteers was quite obvious. The community of NOVA D.G. helped make a good course great.

Mix of long and short wooded holes with two big field bombs and an uphill island shot.

Fun to play: campground trails provide natural fairways. No "poke n' hope" holes. Challenging shots but not overly technical or frustrating.

Great use of the available area, especially considering that no cutting of trees could be done.

More fun and challenging than the regular ("Parkside") Burke Lake course.

Teepads are gravel or dirt, marked by bricks. Baskets are not permanently installed. Not open except for a handful of events during the fall and winter.

There are picnic tables, fire rings, and grills all over the place. Course designer mostly kept them out of play, but a bad kick on a drive might force you to reckon with them. 10's long position isn't playable until January or so, when fall leaves are fully tamped down.

I freely admit my bias as someone who runs events on this course (and as the person who designed hole #18), but I think my above thoughts are shared by the vast majority of those who have played the course. As time passes, the course will continue to improve and be refined.

UPDATE: The course has been improved, especially the flow, for 2017 and on. Old hole 18 is gone, but the navigability is much, much better.

UPDATE #2: As of Duck Golf 36 (11/18), this course is in its best form yet. Turf rolls now delineate tees, the flow and design are further yet improved, and the players seem very happy.

UPDATE #3: Campside 5.0 debuted with the Campside Open and Double Down tournaments in March 2021. A new par 4 and a finishing uphill tunnel shot were added, and the new layout (5290 ft par 57) is playing very smoothly.
