Fun Course Under Construction 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 5, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Plenty of parking next to hole 1
- Baskets are all in good shape
- Fairways are well maintained
- Love the way this course steadily ramps up shot difficulty as you get warmed up
- Huge level of shot diversity
- Despite many holes being very technical, scrambling for par is do-able fairly often
- Good amount of tasteful elevation change
- Decent diversity of hole distances
- Hole 5 seduces you into throwing several discs. Awesome 'drop-off' feature hole
- Hole 7 is a medium par 4, but very tactical. High contender for my favorite hole ever
- Pars feel very fair. This course has a couple rows of shark teeth, but at no point during my ragged +9 round did I feel shorted by a deflated par value for an artificial increase in difficulty

Cons:

- Dirt teepads, except hole 9. That concrete teepad was still quite small though
- Baskets have no accent colors/flags, so some pins can be a bit hard to see
- Tee signs lack of aerial view means blind holes are a guessing game
- Only the first handful of holes have signs pointing to the next tees
- I didn't notice any restrooms around the course
- Only trashcans were by the interior of the park, none around the outer course itself
- Some areas retain a fair whack of mud/water after any decent rain
- Variety of hole distance is slightly marred due to technicality
- Be weary of rusty barbed wire if you shank a drive to the bottom right of hole 6
- The walk from 18's pin back to parking is a bit obtuse
- Although no fault of the course itself, as one unfamiliar with Camden, the area around this course feels slightly off. Not necessarily dangerous, but, mildly sketchy

Other Thoughts:

- I find this course exceptionally hard to rate.
The course design/flow is brilliant, but that is somewhat undermined by the lack of some basic infrastructure.
Further complicating the issue, I actually met the course designer during my round, and several of the cons listed are in the works of being fixed/added.
In order to remain as objective as possible, I will rate the course as it currently stands when I played. However, I greatly look forward to updating my review after the course is fully updated

Fun Fact: Up the hill along the train track by hole 5 I noticed a number of speed limit/ traffic signs, and hubcaps. So if your man-cave/she-shed is in need of some decoration, this is your spot
