Chasing Chains and Chasing Aces

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 17, 2022 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Cambridge City Park is a rustic but scenic piece of property in the heart of town. A walking path winds around the course next to the numerous ball fields and other family areas.

+ You'll have a hard time finding a course that nails it's target audience this well. Hole lengths only vary from 101 ft to 215 ft. However, the numerous elevation changes and perfect use of trees make this a really fun play. The city accurately markets the course as a "disc golf putt-putt course".

+ Despite the short length, there really aren't any filler holes during the full 11.

+ #3 is a short downhill shot with multiple routes to get to the basket. Going through the "field goal" trees is the best route, but also the riskiest. One of the fun early holes.

+ #11 is a fantastic finish. It's only 101 feet, but you're playing to an island green. A miss, and you'll have to re-tee at the top of the hill. There's water behind the green, but this would rarely come into play.

+ The targets are bright new Patriot baskets. Each basket has an arrow on the cage directing you to the next tee. Each tee area is brightly marked with the hole numbers.

+ DUCKIES! There are several species of ducks that call a part of this course their home. They're harmless and bring some extra fun for the kids. The pic I uploaded for hole #8 shows a few photobombing the fairway.

Cons:

- The average hole length is only 152 ft, so players looking for even a slight challenge won't find any here.

- The official website and UDisc page have 11 pictures of really nice tee sign templates, but those have yet to be installed. Since there are several holes with specific mando's and OB, it would be nice to have the signs by each pad.

- The tee pads are a mix of asphalt from the existing paths, and black rubber squares that are comparable to car mats.

Other Thoughts:

Chasing The Chains perfectly executes what a beginners course should look like. Just need signs and better tee pads for this to be a really good course!
