Just baskets under trees 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 4, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This is as fine a place to practice your putting as any, with 9 baskets that are in good shape spread out under two or three sprawling oaks. You can unload a stack of putters, collect them at the basket and then putt at the next one; some are that close together. There's also a field nearby where you can warm up and do fieldwork before your round at City Park, the real course on site.

These baskets are near a sizable parking lot and a well-kept restroom.

Cons:

My definition of a 0 has always been "baskets in a field." This is that without the field. Truly, this is a collection of baskets in a condensed space (two hundred square feet? maybe more but not by too much) that doesn't even masquerade as a course. There are no tees, there are no holes, and there is no design. It's just a group of baskets peppered under a few trees behind the Christian Brothers School. The trees aren't even used as obstacles, although they do provide a low ceiling at a few points. This is as far away from being a course as a collection of disc golf baskets can be.

Other Thoughts:

I was surprised to see this "course" end up on DGCR. I suppose it's nice to know that the baskets are there - as I said, I use it for putting practice and warm up frequently - but make no mistake, this is not a course in any sense of the word. I've always been a bit confused by its presence, since someone spent the money on quality baskets then just plopped them down somewhere with seemingly no thought. Maybe the students at CBS get some use from them, but this setup has limited appeal and utility for even young, absolute beginners. Feel free to spend a few minutes here to bag a course and practice putting, but know that it's truly just a few baskets scattered under some oak trees.

Not exactly a course drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 5, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

The best that can be said about this "course" is that it's in the same park as a real course---City Park in New Orleans.

Cons:

This isn't a "course", it is really just 9 old baskets dispersed around a few big oak trees. There are no tee signs or tee pads. There's no map, and there has never been one. The baskets are all close together...I doubt 100 feet separates some of them. It's probably good for clinics or a PE class.

It's also on the grounds of a private secondary school, and I would not advise trying to play it during school hours.

Other Thoughts:

It's Christian "Brothers", not Christian "Brother's". Really, must we have our intelligence assaulted by this pitiful grammar too? If you went to this school and inserted an apostrophe into "Brothers" they would surely instruct you to relearn proper use of apostrophes.
