For being a heavily wooded course, the fairways are wide enough that they don't feel claustrophobic while still presenting a challenge. It's a pretty balanced course in terms of hole length as well with some long to very long holes and a few ace runs thrown in here and there for good measure. It's a course that will test your precision on just about every hole to some extent.

Great concrete pads and good directional signage round things out here. Overall just a solid course.

There aren't tee signs yet as of this review. Generally they aren't necessary to figure out a hole as there aren't many blind baskets but it would be nice not to have to refer to my phone to get the lengths.

There are a couple of poke and hope holes as well that tend to rely more on luck than skill to get through them in many cases. But these holes are definitely the exceptions to the otherwise great holes this course offers.

The first tee can be tough to find, some signage and/or a map at the parking area would be helpful.

Also, and I'm not deducting anything from the course for this, it tends to be very buggy in the warmer months. Mosquitoes or deer flies will be all over you. So bring bug spray if you're playing in the summer.

This is a great heavily wooded complement to the more park-like West course. Now when I say heavily wooded, I'm not talking about NC style wooded courses so don't go in expecting to have to thread needles. Going off fairway will put some hurt on your score though.

I'm sure tee signs and benches are on their way if this course gets the same love the West course has received and the course looks better every time I go back to play.

A quick tip, the two courses start in entirely different areas so if you're looking to play both, I'd recommend following directions to this course. Then you have the option of playing East and hopping right onto #11 West and making your way around that way.

The Clay Park courses are the best in the Syracuse area IMO. I tend to lean towards the more park-like courses so I prefer the West course but I really enjoy this course as well. If you're passing through the area you should definitely make time to play all 36 here, you won't be disappointed.
