Nice new coarse 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 5, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Really liked it new coarse nice new prodigy baskets really like them first time I have played on them in my top 2 baskets would be number one if more coarses had them it's my favorite but don't want to get too use to them cause I just don't play on them enough brand new coarse it's worth playing

Cons:

A lot of downed trees and hole 8 has a tree that feel on it dead center and basket is holding up the tree looks like it got lucky and didn't destroy it just needs tree cut off of it before it does damage doesn't have permanent signs yet but still pretty easy to navigate Thur the coarse tho

Other Thoughts:

Brand new coarse so it will get better with time just wish I lived closer I played it cause I was there in town for 2 days but this and other coarses around it are worth the trip

One of the best around! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 12, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Note: Clear Fork just opened up a few weeks ago, so I won't include lack of signage, rough fairways, etc. in my review.

CFR disc golf is set right on the shores of a large scenic reservoir. The first tee sits at Picnic Area #1, an area that was pretty much abandon before this course was installed.

Lots of different shots here to challenge your game. A mix of scattered trees, dense woods, and open fields makes for an interesting round. The reservoir comes into play on a few holes as well.

Concrete tees, and Prodigy baskets. Prodigy is my favorite basket I've played on so far. Easy to see, and catches just about every shot that hits the chains.

Forms two 9-hole loops that end right at the parking lot.

I can't wait to come down here when the leaves begin to change. #2 has the best view of the reservoir, and would look beautiful in the fall time (even though it's still breathtaking in any season).

I like how the water creeps up on a few holes, but not overbearing where you'll lose 3 discs in a round.

Simple navigation. Big shout out to the person who spray painted navigational arrows around the course. Also, check out the first review of CFR for easy to follow directions to navigate the course.

There will be multiple pins for even more variety.

Very secluded area. Not much else going on here besides disc golf.

Good sized parking lot, but most of it is grass.

#7 was one my favorite holes. Blind downhill shot, with the reservoir behind the basket. It's shorter than you think!

#5 was great. Sharp fairway to the left with water behind the basket. Fun tee shot!

Also really enjoyed #2, #8, #12, and #16.

Cons:

There were some holes that seemed really cool, but after you realized how close your Drive was to the basket, it left you dissapointed. Wish a few holes were longer.

Only one set of tees.

This is the first restroom I've put in the cons section. Don't even walk in, you'll regret it for as long as you live.

Didn't include this in my review, as the course is brand new. No signage as of yet. Also, 10-16 has pretty rough fairways with logs, branches, mud, etc.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, I really loved this course. It's a really fun play, and a great addition to the disc golf scene in central Ohio.

A great challenge with some beauty along the way. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 4, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course has a wide variety of shots available, and some really fun ones that are missing in a lot of the Columbus courses.

Concrete Pads
Prodigy Baskets
Loops around so you can play front or back 9 if you're strapped on time
Great mix of open/wooded, long/short, flat/hilly, hyzer/anhyzer/straight shots.
Mandos in play
Ace runs and bombs with different lines to make you use your whole bag. Pulled out a few discs I hadn't thrown in a very long time.
Flows pretty naturally and isn't too difficult to navigate.
VERY VERY FUN!! Some really cool signature shots that are risk/reward and make you think. It was nice to not know exactly what I was going to do every hole, but I had several ideas that I wanted to try and I could see myself trying multiple options in several rounds, not just until I have it figured out. This course will really make you think and reward great shots, while doing enough to punish those who don't execute the difficult throws well. Perfect balance.

Cons:

Some of the holes are close together, meaning that you can get held up waiting on other holes to finish. This doesn't come into play too often, but I wonder if larger tournaments will experience some back ups due to this.

Some blind shots, but these could be fixed with flags and of course the signage when it comes in.

A little messy with branches and natural debris in the fairways, but it is still brand new, this will go away.

Could be 4.5 if B pins and signage are put in.

Other Thoughts:

Lack of signage is only due to the course being so new. I played it the day they put the pins in. They are waiting to confirm potential B pin placements before they do signage, but signs are for sure on the way. It will be a little confusing to navigate until then. Be patient, and take time to walk up on the holes you are unsure about. There are a few blind shots.

Water in play is up to you about being a pro/con. I think it is a pro, but you can lose discs in the reservoir. There is also a swamp shot where you will be knee deep or more in mud to get your disc out. I like it, but beginners may not. You will likely need to skip the swamp shot if you cannot make it across, it isn't too long, but I imagine beginners losing a lot of discs in the swamp.

Overall, this course is a fantastic addition to OH disc golf. I would recommend it for amateurs and up, but beginners may want to go with someone who has played the course before until the signs go in. I wouldn't be surprised if this course was eventually a B or even A tier destination for PDGA. Especially if B pins are put in and the signage is up. GO PLAY THIS COURSE!!

Read for Navigation b4 Playing 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 4, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Well laid out course (I am a little bias) with various throws. Nice teepads, and some really good scenery. Plenty of parking, and restrooms.
(Some would argue that these particular restrooms might not be considered a plus, but there has been talk of replacing them). There is some elevation with rolling hills and plenty plenty of trees. A good mix of open fairways, some moderately wooded, and some very tight technical wooded. Alternate (b pin) placements are likely to be decided and planned before the signs are made. Beautiful new baskets that stand out and are very easy to see. IMO a challenging but very fun course to play. I would say it's higher than a 3.5, but further from a 4.0 at this time. This rating is as if the major cons were already addressed, which most will be soon. Please read "Other Thoughts" for help with navigation. Enjoy the course!!

Cons:

I will list these as cons, although most of these will be addressed in the upcoming weeks:

--No signage yet, although they are being made very soon.
--Hole #12 teepad was not ready on pour day, but will be concrete inside of railroad ties soon.
--Teeepad #6 will eventually be addressed to level it out some, although it is acceptable (but still bothers me).
-- Course need a lot of cleanup as dead trees and branches are still common on most of the fairways in the woods...it is a brand new course and that will continue to be worked on.
--There is still some clearing of a couple trees and branches to be done on some of the wooded holes now that there's been a trial run.
--Some of the leaves and other green is going to be trimmed back to make the baskets more visible (#9 in particular).
--The marshy muck on #13 & #14 is hoped to be addressed using pallets, pavers, or cut up tree trunks.

Other Thoughts:

Screenshot this or take a pic to help until signage is installed:

--Tee #1 is in the belly of the circle drive to the left of the restrooms (facing). From #1 basket go to the right to the woodline to #2.
--Tee #2 throws the same direction as #1 down the hill towards the water, basket is at the bottom to the right near the shore (get a pic here). Walking away from #2 basket stay along the shoreline straight ahead to #3.
--From #3 basket go to the left & back toward #3 teepad on top of the hill in the middle of the area to #4.
--#4 is a straight short shot slightly uphill. From #4 basket go to the left to the #5 teepad directly behind #2 teepad.
--#5 basket is a hard more than 90 degree dogleg left (not visible from teepad) down by the water.
--#6 teepad is just to the right of #5 basket, almost straight uphill shot. From #6 basket go straight ahead & to the left for #7.
--#7 teepad is on edge of parking lot. Shot is straight down the hill and plays VERY SHORT near the water's edge. From #7 basket go to the right.
--#8 throw is between the trees and up to the left behind a older big tree. From #8 go right toward SR 97.
--#9 mando (for future b pin placement), basket is on the right edge of the woods by the parking lot. It is behind the tree branch acting as a canopy. From #9 basket go straight to the parking lot and cross into the wooded area on the other side of the road going toward SR 97.
--#10 is a slight right fairway. From #10 basket go left & forward further into the woods.
--#11 fairway is a hyzer (rhbh) down toward the entrance road in the 2nd picnic area. From #11 basket go to the right to teepad #12 (to be installed soon).
--#12 is a long straight wooded shot with the basket being slightly to the left at the end. From #12 basket go down to the road in picnic area 2 using the existing trail to the right or the short path to the left directly down to the road and toward parking lot to #13.
--#13 teepad is on the same side of the road but shoots across the road with basket being slightly left. From #13 basket go right and further up into woods.
--#14 shoots back down toward the road. From #14 basket go straight out of the woods & back across the road.
--#15 is positioned to throw across the water. From the teepad walk back toward the road to cross past #13 teepad and back up the existing trail to the left and take 1 of the 2 paths to the basket. From #15 basket forward and to the right back to the existing trail and then up to the right for #16.
--#16 is a shot out of the woods. From #16 basket go left to #17.
--#17 is a long slightly downhill shot to the opposite corner. From #17 basket backtrack straight up the hill on the woods edge to #18.
--#18 basket is on top of the hill to the right with a mando tree to stay left and to stay clear of the shelter house

Side notes: The crossing over to holes #2 & #5 was done to be able to provide a variety of unique shots of hyzers and anhyzers.

Joseph Bauer hit the 1st ACE about an hour after baskets were installed for the opening of the course on hole #13.
Congrats!!
