Pros:
A new wooded niner still under construction, but playable - and fun.
+ Great use of natural features like the creek on #5, placing basket #6 on a mound, setting basket #9 at the edge of a trench, old trees guarding various greens
Cons:
- Hole #4 is by far the shortest (at 123' it's practically a jump putt) through a narrow alley of very skinny trees
- Hole #5 is a straight shot across a valley and stream, with guardian trees at the edge of the creek, ready to knock discs down and get them wet. The basket is tucked into a quarry hole on the hillside. It's a beautiful hole, but could stand a little more tree trimming inside circle 1
- Most holes are straight; there are a few right-to-left fades, but nothing that requires you to move your disc left-to-right
Other Thoughts:
~ Tees and signage weren't in as of late 2022. Teeing areas marked by 4x4 posts, baskets are beautiful new DisCatchers. Small arrows hanging from the cages pointing to the next tee, plenty of signage guiding you through some of the longer and winding walks. Walking paths have been cleared and outlined; a few foot bridges to cross the stream, a staircase built into the steep hillside on hole #3.
~ Lots of flags marking stumps and roots still to be removed from fairways. They've done a hell of a lot of work to clear out woods, though the rough is still very thick with thorns
~ Plays through low areas that will probably be pretty wet after a rain
~ It's a little bit of an odd walk from 9 to 10 (you go back out into the open field that borders the course and walk for a while, passing the first hole). I guess the advantage of adding this tenth hole is that it brings you back closer to the parking lot
~ The holes are short, but plenty of woods and elevation changes making it a "real" course for players who are ready to move up from open park nines. Cramer's Creek fits into a niche for developing players who want more challenge, for tags and league play, and for a quick round for mids and putters
