Cramped, but a Good Nine when the Park isn’t Busy 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 9, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

A new layout fit into a narrow section of a town park, best enjoyed when there's no other traffic. I happened to hit it early on a rainy morning, so there were no walkers and the playground was empty. Under those conditions, I played a quick round, enjoyed the clever hole design, and found some legitimate challenges

+ Big difference between some of the short and long tees. The short tees are good for beginners, and the long tees add challenge for experienced players (examples are #2 and #7, where the back tees stretch them out to 421' and 550' par 4's with tight lines)

+ A drainage ditch comes into play several times: you need a good drive on #2 to cross it, and then it runs alongside #6 on the right, and the hyzer line requires hanging you disc out over the ditch

+ This small patch of land includes a variety of trees that change the playing environment: you're threading your way through tall pines on #3, and dodging your way around a grove of of old oak trees on #9

+ The basket on #5 is hidden inside a small grove of trees with a tunnel entry (and mandos on either side to narrow your available lines)

Cons:

- The walking path comes into play on too many holes, especially on #7 and #8 when you're throwing parallel to the path. Mandos to help keep you away from the path, but even if you're not hitting people, you're going to be waiting on them to clear

- The first tee is a ways from the parking area. You have to wander across other park facilities on the lookout for a very small sign on a tree indicating the first tee. Once you get going, the flow is pretty intuitive, but tees can be hard to spot since they're just painted blocks flush to the ground

Other Thoughts:

~ The course is worth a play, but don't visit when the park is likely to be busy

COURSE AMENITIES:
DisCatchers with plastic arrows indicating the next tee. The tees are natural, and marked by painted square blocks mounted at ground level
