An Interesting Concept

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 6, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Cool design concept:

The idea is to throw at each basket from each area creating a nine hole course. Another course down the road has the same concept and I love it. Keeps things fresh, doesn't tax the course too much and kept the budget small. This one has a yellow, red, and blue basket to throw to, little arrows on the cement tee pads pointing to where the baskets are so you can determine which one you want to throw to. Little markers by the tee pad give you direction and distance to each basket. Hole 2 I guess you can call it has the tee pad against a cluster of trees making you throw around or under the limbs in order to get to the desired hole; thought this was a nice tee area.

Cons:

This place has the same problem as nearby Peterson Park in that although it has a cool design it is very short, and has few obstacles other than the mentioned hole 2. I think practice area would have been the proper description of this place, not a 9 hole disc golf course.

There's a long walk to get to the disc golf portion of the park and in the summer time heat it takes my motivation away even to walk down there and play 3 holes or practice putting. Here's a tip: if you go down S Princess DR from the other side there is a better entrance than the one the directions give you here. The parking lot is right next to where the disc golf starts so you can avoid the long walk.

Other Thoughts:

Overall I really like what the city of Ammon did for these couple of parks with the 3 basket 9 hole course idea. Perfect for practice if you're a local and don't have time to play a bigger course in the area. All of Idaho Falls/Ammon's parks are in great shape and nice to look at. I think if you're serious about playing an actual course head on over to CEI or Freeman park but this does the job if you're just goofing around.
