A lot of OB 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 5, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice urban park in the middle of Fort Wayne that plays around a large pond / small lake. There is a lot of OB that may be good or bad depending on the skill of the player. Half of the OB is water either the pond or the 2 rivers that border the park. The other half of the OB is paths, parking lots, and a busy street. Tight pin placements on a few holes that are a few feet away from a path which is considered OB. Fly your approach 5 feet past the basket on some holes and you will be OB.

Some holes played out in the open around the pond or in the middle of the green space around mature trees. There were 3 holes that played in the woods right next to the river.

Cons:

Half the tees were cement and half were dirt / grass.

There was no par rating on the holes. Holes ranged from 230' to 400'.

Tough to find some holes, there were signs on two-thirds of the tee boxes which directed you to the next hole, but if a sign was missing it was tough to find the hole. Signs were just paper that was laminated so it is easy to see why signs were removed or blown away by the elements.

Other Thoughts:

I played East Swinney and if I had time I would have liked to play the West course. After hole #10 on the East course there is a bridge you can take over the river to the West Course. I believe there is another 18 to play over there.

Better signage would have me giving this course a 2.5, but since I missed 2 holes because I couldn't find them it got downgraded to a 1.5.
