This small, city park 9-hole has a very nice course sign detailing tees, baskets, and how to cross the chasm of a river to access holes 4-6.  The tee signs are of the same quality.

Maintenance was well done, except for the foot golf baskets underneath the disc golf baskets, but that's not what we care about now is it?

The DD Patriot baskets are in good condition.

The course loops back to the parking lot fairly well, and basket 8 can be used as a practice basket.

No tees or tee markings.  Just a nice tee sign and maybe a patch of beat down grass to give you a general idea of where to tee from.  Finding the next tee isn't always easy either.

Six of the fairways hold no challenge, just a tee and a basket in a field with a walking path that is so far out of the way of the course it's not worth mentioning.  Hole 8 has a little challenge with the OB road/parking lot on the left and wrapping behind the basket... but those are far enough out of the way it barely affects the hole.

Contrasting the beginner-level challenge, holes 4 and 6 cross a 125ft wide, 20ft deep chasm that has a small river at the bottom.  Unfortunately for one of my discs, this river also wraps around behind the basket of 6 (which is only 152ft).  It doesn't match with the difficulty level, or lost-disc risk of the rest of the course.

You have no option but to walk down the fairway of 5 to get to the basket of 4. Luckily this course will probably never be busy enough to worry about that.

The trains going by every 5 minutes got annoying, but the park is next to the warehouse district of Edgerton, so cest la vie.

There is a soccer field nearby that can be used for field practice.

Overall, this isn't a course worth visiting often.  The challenge isn't there for experienced players, and beginners won't be ready to throw all the way across the gaping maw of the river, so the holes they do play are flat and boring.  No forced lines or anything to make this course remotely interesting.

Edwardsville is a nice, casual course in a small but nice park with easy navigation, ample parking, and a few kinds of challenging holes. Tee signs and baskets are mostly in good shape, there's some danger to get into with woods and creek, and plenty of room to try different lines since the trees are usually off the fairway (on the other side of a walking path). Hole 8 can be used as a practice basket, and there are arrows on each basket pointing you toward the next tee.

Most of the course is decent for beginners: no crazy elevation or tight lines, just a 250-foot-ish shot to the basket. There's some variance in distance, and 7 is much longer and requires a full-power shot from even advanced players.

The two water holes provide some challenge, namely hole 4, which has a gap that must be hit a decent distance from the tee. There's no real layup line or safe route like there is on 6, making it a real risky shot regardless of how you choose to throw.

Holes 4-6 are the real downer of this course. 4 and 6 play across a rather large and deep creek, and the trees that grow along the sides of it can really knock down discs. Anything that goes in isn't coming out. Really, the lines shouldn't be hard to hit (and hole 6 is only 150 feet) but you need something that flies straight - which beginners won't. To get across, there's a bridge, but on hole 4, you're walking down the entire fairway of 5 to get to the green. The grass isn't very well kept up over there either, and there's a warehouse or something adjacent to that part of the course which lessens the park feeling.

Everything else is mostly medium to short distance and rather open and flat. The trees vaguely prevent left-to-right shots on some holes, but there's still plenty of room to work with. Hole 9 plays across the road into the park.

As a result, there's really no level of experience or skill set this course really caters toward, and not many people who will have a fun time playing this entire course. While I like bringing the treelines and creek into play, the course shouldn't play over the creek. Instead, there should be maybe two holes on the other side of the creek.

There are some parts of the ground that have a bit of standing water, and when I was there, the grass was slightly taller. However, this isn't a problem because the course wisely stays away from those areas, so if your disc goes there, you're the one doing something wrong.

If you don't want to throw over the creek, you can still play a nine-hole course. Play from hole 4 to hole 6's basket, then cross the bridge and play from your own tee location to hole 4's basket (basically throwing down 5's fairway). Otherwise, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 are the same. This version is technically less exciting than the official layout, but at least it makes more sense for beginners and reduces the long walk issue with current hole 4.

The tee sign of 9 is missing, but the post is still there and the arrow on 8's basket points toward it, and the basket is easily seen.

I want to say this is a flat, beginner course... However two of the nine holes that a beginner wouldn't even want to play in hopes of losing a disc by throwing over this large creek with a two story drop of doom to lose a disc.

Even advanced players have to think twice about throwing a high dollar disc in those dicey spots.

Baskets were all in great shape. 6 of 9 holes were well mowed and maintained.

All baskets doubled as foot golf baskets.

Tee pads and signs were great and correctly labeled.

Holes were either way too flat and easy, with the exception of two that were so difficult to not lose a disc altogether as you heave over the creek.

There is a lot of baskets in sight on each tee pad, so you have to double check you are aiming at the right spot.

Luckily no one else was there when we went, but there could be some definite FORE opportunities with multiple groups playing.

One of the water holes has an 'alternate' route where you can throw 200 feet out of the way and use the bridge as the fairway, but the 5 foot bridge (with gaps in the wood that makes it up) is just as good of a chance to lose the disc as it is to heave it over the water from the tee off.

Plays along the walking trail and you might not see people coming.

Seven of the holes are great for beginners, very flat and open.

Only one hole where an advanced player needs to give a full length drive.

It is in a nice park with a playground, baseball fields, and a fenced in soccer field on a tennis court area and a large shaded picnic shelter.

Navigation between holes 9/10, helped by map at the start. The second tee is tucked back in some trees and it kind of looks like you should go to 7 after finishing 3 until you get up there.

Navigation on holes themselves 8/10. Tee signs are present, but not really necessary as you can see the basket clearly on all holes except for hole 4, and hole 4 the tee sign is misleading as the basket is tucked way farther left than the sign shows.

Comfort while playing 6/10. No benches and not much shade, but the course is short and the lack of elevation change makes it an easy walk. A couple holes near walking trails/roads where you might have to be concerned about non-disc golfers.

Finding discs 6/10. You shouldn't have much problem keeping track of discs on the open holes. The woods look pretty thick but outside of Hole 6 there's not really an excuse for throwing into them. Holes 4 and 6 may be tough for beginners and missing the gap could definitely result in a lost disc in the creek.

Baskets were great, brand new DDs, but tees are grass. Most of them are okay since the course isn't very busy. Hole 2 is right up against the woods and lumpy 5/10

Use of Obstacles 3/10. Why is 3/10 a pro? There are hardly any obstacles present on this course, but I want to give the course designer some credit for making an effort to make something out of nothing. 6 of the holes are in a completely open field with woods surrounding. Hole 2 is hugging the tree line on the left and hole 9 is back against the tree line with a hidden telephone wire crossing over the fairway that is definitely in play (I hit it). Holes 4 and 6 are tunnel shots across a creek.

No alternate basket positions 0/10

The course is pretty much entirely flat save for creek crossings. Elevation 1/10

Variety of distances 1/10 All the holes are short to medium short, between 200' and 300' with a lot right at 240.

Decisionmaking required 1/10. About the only decision you'll have is whether to go for an ace run or play for a 2. Hole 6 technically has a spike hyzer route (though with the overgrowth it's currently the only route).

Challenging all levels 1/10. Beginners will even find most of the holes easy with a little challenge on 4 and 6.

Variety of shot paths required 2/10 Holes 2 and 4 require hyzers. Hole 6 is supposed to favor a straight putter shot. The rest are wide open.

Variety of openness 2/10, see above

Course maintenance 5/10. Tee signs were all in good condition, holes other than 4 and 5 were well mowed. 4 and 5 have knee to waist high grass with a 10 foot trail between them. Hole 4 is a sharp dogleg left so it's almost impossible to avoid the tall grass. Hole 6 is basically unplayable (at least as intended) due to a fallen tree and overgrowth.

Challenge of the course 2/10

Before this course was put in I once came to this park to throw in the football field before meeting a friend out at Wyandotte County Park. Honestly I think that may have been a more enjoyable disc golf experience than playing this course.

This course is at 1.21 using my spreadsheet (see my profile for info on how I rate courses). Cleaning up hole 6 and mowing the back part of the park would do enough for me to move my rating to a 1.5
