The Wreckreator Could Use A Clean Up Day! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 2, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

The course is set amidst a Ponderosa Pines forrest so you're throwing through pine trees of all sizes. The course is tough, not for newbies. Nice teepads. It wasn't signed nearly as clearly as the North Star course. There are chances to throw some big air and there are a couple of elevated teepads. I liked the little nature signs on the back nine explaining about the history of the park, etc.

Cons:

There were more than a few things I didn't like about this course. I feel there are too many tunnel shots and too many holes with too great a risk of losing or spending a lot of time hunting for your disc. I think the course was quite overgrown. While hunting for my disc on # 13 (which I never found), I happened upon one of the neat little brown next tee signs which this course is lacking of. Especially when they are one of my favorite things about the North Star course. Anyway, the problem was, when I found the little next tee sign, it was a full five feet back in the brush. The bushes had grown out that much. I also felt the course was pretty hard to navigate. I never did find the # 13 basket and later realized I lost my disc there shooting at basket # 14 by mistake. It's a course that should be played with a group.

Other Thoughts:

I must admit that probably one reason for my substandard evaluation of the Wreckreator is that I played very early one morning after a thunderstorm the previous night. Everything was wet and miserable making for a most unenjoyable round of golf. Both courses are difficult, at times frustrating and will always test your skills. I just happen to prefer North Star. If you're in the area, the two together are a must play.
