Pros:

Fehringer Ranch is an almost entirely open 18 hole course. The only trees that'll really come into play are holes 11, 15 and 16. Even these are pretty sparse. The rest of the course is essentially wide open with slight to moderate elevation in a few spots. There's some shorter bushes in play on a few holes too which can lead to awkward shots if you're pinned up against one but are easily pretty easy to throw over. The creek can come into play on a few of the holes on the back nine too, though it usually requires a pretty poor shot.

The baskets are Mach III's with the number plates on the top. These were all in good shape and caught pretty well. Two or three pin placements per hole from what I remember, to go along with a single basket. A couple of the pin locations are elevated which adds a little bit of extra challenge.

The tee pads are concrete and all were nice and level and had good grip to them. One tee pad per hole.

The signs here are really well done. They feature the hole number, distances to all the pin placements, pars, elevation change and a pretty detailed hole map. These are some of the better signs I've seen in awhile. Very well done with these. They also show any applicable OB, of which there's quite a bit to up the challenge.

The design of the course is pretty well done. There's not much for natural obstacles out here but they did a nice job by incorporating the creek that runs thru the middle for a few holes. The flow is also really simple to follow. It helps that it's so wide open and dry that there's well worn paths from basket to tee, but there's no excessively long walks or anything.

The course is permanent and free to play. This would be a solid winter option too. Restroom by the parking lot and a practice basket between the lot and hole 1.

Cons:

As I mentioned above, the course is pretty much wide open. If you're into just ripping drive after drive without having to worry about shaping shots around anything, you'll dig this course. If not, you'll absolutely hate this one.

There's no shade out here either. If it's hot out be sure to have plenty of liquids. The course is pretty busy too, so you'll most likely encounter some backups too, which adds to the sun exposure.

The one thing missing from the awesome signs is a way to show which position the basket is in. Not a huge deal on most holes but a few of the longer ones are hard to spot. The silver colored baskets don't stick out the greatest.

A walking path criss crosses the course in a few spots so be cognizant of your surroundings before throwing.

Other Thoughts:

This appears to actually be one of the better courses in the general vicinity, which is pretty unfortunate. It's pretty shocking to see the difference in types of courses in the city compared to less than an hour up in the mountains.

If you're in the area it's worth a spin I suppose, but don't expect to be blown away. They did what they could here, but it's still a pretty dull experience.

Pros:

Close to our home. It has bag hooks. The next tee is close to the basket of last hole. There are some long holes and a couple short holes. It is kind of challenging and yet easy to play.

Cons:

Two or three baskets are missing right now. It needs to be mowed pretty bad.

Other Thoughts:

It could use some signage. Put the missing baskets up and it will be complete. It can be easy to loose a disc if you don't watch where they land.
