Other Thoughts:

This is a very well cared for park. Overall it is a pretty short course with a lot of birdie and ace holes. There were only two holes over 350 feet. Despite the short length, the majority of the holes are technical and have challenging lines and make good use of elevation changes. Tee pads, baskets and signage were all fantastic. It was very easy to navigate the course.

Fun and challenging 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 10, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Well planned out course, good mix of open holes and holes in woods. Well maintained course. Easy to make way to next tee box.

Cons:

Fairways in wooded area bit challenging for beginners or recreational players.

Other Thoughts:

Reminds me of Silver Fox and Grey Fox up in WI.

First round, Sept. 19th, 2020 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 19, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Teepads, course layout & signage, wooded holes, elevation changes, overall condition.

Cons:

Not many long holes for the bigger/biggest arms. Also, its a bit difficult to get to due to the convoluted roads that you take to get there. Lastly, it was pretty busy when we went: there was a small backup at some holes.

Other Thoughts:

This is a beautiful new course I had a chance to play today. I really like the turf tee pads, the course signage, the elevation changes for some of the more open holes, and the challenging but getable wooded holes. Many holes are just beautiful, but that's considering how well the course is maintained and the time of year it is. This is a great addition to this area's courses.

Fun course and a huge improvement. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 14, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Brand new baskets, tee signs, and teepads. The baskets are nice and level.

Course has many challenging shots but should still be fun for new players.

A surprising amount of elevation in play, at least for this area.

Many of the holes have enough room around the basket that down the road they could add in different pin positions to change things up.

A bad tee shot can easily lead to a boogie. Bring your scramble game.

Massive parking lot.

Cons:

Not all the tee pads are flat. A couple have low spots. But generally they felt pretty good.

There are some really tight gaps. For right now I wouldn't cut any trees down but there are a few branches that I would trim.

Navigation is a little strange and there are some longer walks between holes. For your first round remember to look at the "next tee" arrow in the basket. EDIT: Some new signs have been added to make navigation easier.

The following didn't affect my rating but they are cons-

The course is still a little raw.

Some of the tee pads have large step downs. It looks like the park works are working on it.

Could use a little more signage between holes. This might not be an issue down the road once the course gets played more. EDIT: They have added a few signs between 7 and 8.

The rough can be hard to get through in places. This should get better as the course beats in.

Needs more trash cans.

Could also use a few benches.

From what I hear this course holds a lot of water. So it is probably going to be muddy. Wood chips might be able to help.

Other Thoughts:

I showed up at the course planning to play one round just to check out the new course and see how it plays but I ended up playing a second round because the course was so much fun. Plus, I had a few boogies that I wanted to improve on.

If a course makes me want to play another round as soon as I finish that's a good course, at least in my book.

Based on my first two rounds I think this course is a huge improvement over the old layout and a great addition to the area.

For a rating I am going to give this course a 4.0. I am being a little generous, but I can't give it a 3.75. There is room for improvement, but overall this is a good start.

For the course baggers-
This course is a pretty easy bag. If you pay attention to the next tee arrows or take a picture of the map on your phone it is pretty easy to find the next tee.

There are a fair number of blind baskets but most don't require you to walk too far down the fairway if you want to see them. Or you can just go by the hole map on the tee sign.

There is some thick rough, but from my experience it was actually pretty easy to find discs that went off the fairway.

My first solo round took around 50 minutes and I got stuck behind a couple of slow players for the last few holes. So it's a fairly quick round.

This course plus the two at Walnut Hollow are well worth the trip.
