Air It Out! (Except for #7)

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 27, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Firestone Park is a 50+ acre park in the heart of Columbiana. It's a mostly open space with occasional scattered trees and a few rolling hills.

+ There are two sets of tees. The red tees, contrary to the usual, are the long tees. The green tees are the short tees. These tees are unique from each other on most holes, offering differing shot variations. This is especially true on #7, where the red tee shoots through a tunnel, and the green tee shoots through a larger gap outside of the tunnel.

+ There is plenty of room to "air it out" here. There's a good mix of hole distance, but most are pretty wide open (see cons).

+ #7 is a fun tunnel shot that kind of comes out of the blue. As mentioned earlier, the two sets of tees provide completely different ways to play the hole.

Cons:

- There aren't any permanent tee pads or signs. Each box is marked with two ground markers that resemble a ball golf course. They do at least have QR codes you can scan for a map and course information.

- There is a noticeable lack of trees here, so as you could imagine, it might be easy to score well.

- There are no navigational signs, so you'll have to follow either the map on the QR code, or UDisc.

Other Thoughts:

Firestone Park is a typical open park course. It would be nice to see a final investment to install tees and signs. Nothing overly special, but worth a try if you're in the area.

Worth the quick round for sure. drive by

Pros:

Firestone Park is a beautiful little park with a nice swimming pool, lake and some fields and playgrounds. It's well maintained and you won't be looking through any rough to find errant throws. The number plates are custom made and pretty cool looking, albeit a bit large. Hole 7 and 9 I thought were very nice holes that would be quality holes on any course.

Cons:

The tee pads are natural. There are no tee signs, but there are QR codes on the tee markers for the tee box. I didn't take the time to scan them as all of the baskets are visible from the tee.

Overall the course was decent. There were a few spots on the course where bad throws could get into the areas of other park users. When I was there I had to skip two holes because of people using the land where the fairways were. It is a small park and maybe a bit too tight in some of the areas used.

Other Thoughts:

I'm glad I stopped and played another course and it only took me about 35 minutes to play 9 holes here. Well 7 with 2 skipped..... A few tweaks and it could be a solid red/white level course that all skill levels would enjoy. I'm sure people enjoy it as is already also. The park is definitely nice and it is worth the stop if you are driving by.
