Okay, I think the fact that the Mach III baskets are the best quality of this course, that should tell you a lot...

There are tee signs on every "hole"

This is a "fun" putter only round, and could be good for a younger child to get into the game, or for someone who wants to go ace hunting.

You can play a round in under 10 minutes if you run, my personal best was 6:14... and that was with two people.

"Tee pads" were level grassy areas, where some had boards to show you where to throw from.

There were a few fun putter shots to throw, with mostly the same idea on every hole, the opportunity to change your gameplan is a possibility.

Well, to start off, the course is short. The longest hole is still under 300 feet and mostly open with maybe two trees in play. Lots of the same shot over and over, putter hyzer after putter hyzer.

The tee area was slippery when a little wet, and some of the tee signs were faced in the wrong direction.

The holes overlapped, with crossing fairways, tees on different holes 20 feet from eachother. If there was more than one group of people on the course at one time, you will most likely get hit by a disc. Close to other park activities, somebody could get hurt

The biggest thing though, is that the course went through a redesign that completely changed a couple holes. The park put in a dog park area, and it got in the way of hole 3, 4, and 5, so those were changed. However, other than changing the place of the baskets, nothing else was changed. The old tee pads were still the same, even though they were wrong. The tees weren't faced in the right direction. It was a mess.

I feel bad for the baskets at the course. I really wish somebody would take them out back, and shoot them, to put them out of their misery. They were made to be put on a course, not here.

I think courses like this need to be taken out, given to local clubs to make newer, nicer courses in better areas for disc golf. This is a waste of space.

I will not play this course again, no matter how many times I go play IUP, which is a great course.

This course has some well thought out tee box to basket placement. Some shots require an anhyzer while other shots require a hyzer shot. Other shots are blind. And some are straight ahead but guarded by trees or other obstacles.

This course is an ABSOLUTE bog/quagmire if it rains a lot. The grass & weeds in most places were 12"+ and in some spots even higher. Baskets #7 & #9 don't have numbers on the baskets. The baskets were on the old side but still not to bad. All 9 holes were par 3's and all tee boxes were woodchips. Theirs some dead branches/trees that need some trimming.

As BIG AL mentioned, if the property across from the park is also park owned it would be ideal for the course to move over there or add another 9 holes and make it 18. This course isn't the best course but worth playing once. I'll give a course the benefit of a doubt and @ least give it a try. Not bad just not for an experienced player. I found the course to easy. Beginner friendly though.

Getty Heights Park offers a disc golf course and a multitude of other activities including a playground and baseball fields. There is plenty of parking space and bathrooms close to the course.

The course had newer tee signs which were helpful when multiple pins were in view. The tee pads are exceptionally large and two tees are offered on every hole - something pretty rare for such a simple course as this. Mach 3 baskets caught well and were in good shape for a course this old.

The design was well done when not factoring in its close proximity to other park activities. The course actually offered more than I expected in terms of multiple lines on some holes and well thought out pin positions. Whether it was 5's blind shot over shrubs and through thick woods, 7's blind, super sharp hyzer, or 8's very tight landing zone to the green, the course maximized this part of the park land nicely.

The course flowed well and was easy to navigate. This is a very quick play and shouldn't take much more than 20 minutes for anyone to play. The course was nicely maintained as well.

I feel that it is a good course to take beginners to and to try out new discs on because of its relatively open nature and shorter hole length, with some tighter, technical holes mixed in.

Getty Heights' biggest downfall was far and away its close proximity to other park activities. I try to keep in mind that we probably caught the park at its busiest time - on a Saturday evening during a softball game - but we had to skip a few holes to avoid hitting cars or people. This aspect of the course's design is greatly flawed IMO. It's not just that a few holes play somewhat close to the parking lot, but that one basket is even set inches away. Another few holes play very close to the field, which many players were using to warm-up on.

While the tees are huge, the woodchips made them feel a little soft at times and were muddy in spots.

Even with two sets of tees, there is hardly any variety in hole length.

There was some confusion at times as to which basket to play to from the tee, as multiple baskets were in view on a few different tees.

Completely flat, go enjoy the elevation at IUP!

I'm not sure if the land across the street is park property or not, but it would be wonderful to move the course over there or at least add 9 more holes as that land looks very disc golf friendly and much less crowded. Since the course is such a quick play and is located only a few minutes from IUP, I recommend that you try to bag it if you are passing through the area and have some extra time. It is worth stopping here once, but I don't know if I would return even if I'm in the area to play IUP again.

Getty Heights confronts you with a decent mix of obstacles: shrubs to throw over on 5, a tight window off the tee on 6, the rough-marked OB on 9, and several guarded pins. It's clear some thought was put into creating a varied course. The multiple tees offer true beginners some legitimate lines while not overly challenging, yet more experienced players are still provided with a few entertaining if casual shots. "Good beginner course" is usually code for "boring," but there's truly a lot of lessons for the newbie to glean here. The appeal is primarily for beginners, though.

Navigation is easy, tees are well-signed and readily visible (two sets, anyway),.The course seems to be well-groomed. Parking is ample, there's a playground available for children, and bathrooms are clean.

There's just not a lot to bring you back to Getty Heights. The short holes and only-intermittent obstacles have limited appeal to anyone with some experience, especially in a region with some truly-special courses. Several of the challenges provided are awkwardly executed, such as the blind shot on 5 and 6's tight window: the attempt to challenge is welcome, but the implementation leaves something to be desired. Each hole focuses on a single shot, and all are birdiable for even a casual player (which could be a positive for some).

There's a *lot* of conflict between the course and non-disc golf park activities. Several holes run alongside the parking lot or near a softball field, and on days when there's a game playing, like when we visited, several holes are unplayable. Since only a portion of the overall park is used, it's a shame to have a large fraction of the 9 available holes to be subject to impedance by what are probably common events. There's also a potential safety hazard created by rash or unmindful players trying to play through.

The tee signs indicate three tees per hole, but only two were readily visible. The mulch tees impede movement, especially if damp. Run ups aren't hugely necessary on such a short course, but the awkward tees nevertheless bear mentioning.

Some nasty rough bordering a few holes could make life miserable for beginners.

Getty Heights was a fun coda to a visit to Indiana in which we also played IUP and Pine Ridge Park. It's the least of that bunch by a wide margin, but nevertheless worth a stop if you want to bag a course or just didn't get enough disc golf in the day otherwise. It plays quick and casually, so save a half hour out of your day and come throw a few discs.

The holes are pretty long where you get to throw it a couple times. They do a nice job incorporating the woods where they can to make the tee shots more tricky. There is 2 tee positions.

The signs are gone. All that is left is the poll that holds it up. Course is very short.

It is 10 minutes from IUP so you could warm up here.

Much more variety than you would expect from the size of this park. Nice baskets and well marked natural tees. Holes start in an open field then move through the woods befor finishing in the field again.

No change in elevation. The Signs for the course don't really exist. There are metal posts, but the signs from the tops of the posts are gone. Very short course wrapping aroung the parking lot.

Given the space they had, they did a decent job with this course. Nothing spectacular, but it is worth checking out if you are in the area. It worked as a ood warm-up before heading to IUP.

Great starter course... the first course i ever played on. In the winter its the only course in town!

While there are metal posts at a tee location for every hole, only a few have unscathed signs - most signs are smashed, or missing altogether.

Basket #9 in a mini-bog. Basket #5 a bit difficult to find - behind a large hardwood, need to throw over 6' high bushes to reach it.

Very flat, and holes all very similar - about 250', avoid some amount of wood. Nine holes, natural tees.

Tee #1 just off walking path connecting parking lot and baseball field.

Plays in roughly a clockwise manner in a small public park which contains a smattering of large hardwoods.

Alternate tee positions, could find some of them, marked by in-ground boards, paint was quite faded so never quite sure which was which.

Suitable for beginners as an introduction to the game. Birdie opportunities/ace runs for experienced players.

This course is not hard to find; a mere turn off PA-286.

A good course for those in a hurry; I played this in about 20 minutes and I'm one who takes his time.

For beginners, this is a nice course. I've only been playing for about three months and I managed to birdie several of the holes using only my Roc and Aviar.

I can imagine this would be a good place to bring your kids because of the playground and other amenities nearby.

The signs are either damaged, vandalized, or missing. Despite this, it's not as hard to navigate the course as you'd imagine because of its small size (see below).

Because the park is so small, the holes are short and the baskets are pretty close together. There were a lot of people at this park -- both disc golfers and people seeking other recreation in the park.

Tees other than grass would be nice, and the decaying tee markers were hard to locate at times.

By the ninth hole, I was getting tired of throwing the same shot over and over again. The layout of the course minimizes the use for hyzers, anhyzers, or any other techniques.

I stopped at this course after playing at College Lodge. Interestingly, there were no people playing there, but a whole gaggle of people were at Getty Heights. I thought the converse would be true. Whether this course is usually busy would be better answered by a local player.

Despite the low rating, this course is moderately fun and relaxing. Played by itself, this course is not worth more than a 20 minute trek. It is, however, a great complement to the nearby College Lodge!

This course needs some major clean up. Most of the holes were missing their signs and it is a little hard to find hole five.The course seems to not be maintained at all. I didn't see a bathroom or any real ammenities.

This course is ok to play right after or before IUP Lodge since it is so close, but is not worth it on its own....

A 9 hole rec course. Not to challenging or interesting for an experienced player but a good course to take a new Disc Golfer. This course is completly flat and has just enough trees to make it interesting to a new Disc Golfer. Once the beginner has played this course a few times you can take then to the IUP course and let them be amazed.

Great course for beginners. If your tired of hiking the Lodge, this course is for you. Only 5 minute drive from the Lodge. Red, White, and Blue tees. Not that hard to find each tee or basket.

Tee signs are destroyed but course is small enough that you can find your way around. From Red and White tees you'll be throwing putters and midrange discs a lot. Hole #6 is pretty wet, all the time.

This is another home course for myself. Since the Lodge is closed in the Winter months we added the Blue Tees which adds as much length as possible. If you have 30 minutes to waste come play Getty from the Reds and see if you can birdie every hole.

I've never seen a little rec course like this have three sets of tees before. And the different tees mix it up nicely as well. Trees are in play but don't overwhelm the course. Pretty beginner friendly.

Any recreational pitch and putt so close to College Lodge is going to pale in comparison to it, no matter how nice a place it is. Hole #6 was a bit too close to a busy road for comfort; the optimal hyzer route for lefties goes over the street.

Provides a decent level terrain alternative to those who can't handle the steep hills of College Lodge, or those just looking for an easier course or a change of pace.

Close to IUP's college lodge 18 hole course. nice reletively easy course put into a small area. Beginner friendly if you know where to go.

Advanced players will see this as a practice area, not much of a course. Many of the signs were blank or missing and many of the tees take a few minutes to find, but the park is so small you'll find them. (Hole 9's pro tee is parellel to the furthest back path)

From IUP, Find Oakland Ave and follow past cemetary to Rustic Lodge Rd. Many of the locals have no idea where this course is.
