One of Florida's Worst Courses 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 25, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

We had the luxury of playing one of Florida's best courses on a recent bagging trip to the greater Tallahassee area and one of Florida's worst. This is one of Florida's worst. At least most of the other crappy courses in the state had baskets that were capable of catching and holding a disc. This one does not. The unusual homemade baskets are lacking in chains and most of the "basket" parts of the targets are laying on the ground or worse, resulting in having to play the course object course style.

There are grass tees sometimes marked by hexagon-shaped blocks and one that featured a metal tee sign laying on the ground with just the #3 on it. The course has short rec lengths and a couple of trees and man-made obstacles to shot-shape around. The course mostly plays around the perimeter of a small neighborhood park.

The only real pro is the course layout sign that has a nice rendition of the course and shows distances.

Cons:

I listed the cons with the pros cause there aren't too many pros.

Other Thoughts:

I can't imagine anyone playing here except for the most extreme of baggers. Get some better baskets in here and better-defined tee areas and this course would be an ok little rec course for the neighborhood.

Not so Grand Perry 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 7, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

- beginner friendly open layout
- map at the start of course
- easy to follow course layout
- numbered baskets
- playable in less than 20 minutes
- ace runs
- clean park

Cons:

- extremely basic course, super short fairways
- no fairway definition
- natural tees
- no multiple tees or pins
- almost exclusively RHBH oriented
- course borders a neighborhood streets
- homemade baskets, neglected and broken down
- not many amenities

Other Thoughts:

Ok, so, I'll try to keep this review short and sweet. This simple course flows clockwise around a small, open neighborhood park. Each hole features a homemade interpretation of what the maker believes to be a dg basket. Tees are either marked by a flagged rod of metal sticking out of the ground or by three pieces of flat stone flush with the ground. Even though the baskets looked and caught terrible, you have to admire the designers dedication to the game. After all, this was the first course in town. They wanted to expose the town to dg and they followed through, yeah baby! It may have even influenced the construction of the Bulldog DGC down the road, which is a huge step up for the community.

Anyways, Heritage is definitely near the bottom of my courses played list. It's too short, too simple, too homemade to be taken seriously. However, it can actually be a fun play, as long as you don't take yourself too seriously.

New Baskets Needed 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 7, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

(0.584 Rating) Probably the worst course I've ever played, but not my worst experience.
- ACEABILITY - One of a few highlights I had here was aceing hole (2) on my second time threw. All of the holes are highly aceable and an average rec player should probably get an ace in less than fifty rounds or so.
- QUICK PLAY - A single should easily complete a full 9 in twenty minutes. Groups of 4 should probably finish in under 45 minutes.
- FORGIVENESS - The odds of losing a disc due to an errant shot is near impossible unless you leave one behind on accident.
- BIGGINER FRIENDLY - No overgrowth, no hazards and short holes, thus good for beginners.

Cons:

Numerous and significant cons with Heritage Park FGC.
- BASKETS - Hands down the worst baskets I've played on. They appear to be custom made and are just a little step up from targets. Discs that land in the basket with sometimes fall on edge to the sheet steel base and then roll up and over the lip of the basket. The lip of the basket is only 3 inches high.
- TEES - There are three hexagonal pavers to mark the tee areas. A wonderful tripping hazard. I teed to the side of them. In addition, holes (6) and (7) were missing the pavers.
- BASKET AND TEE SEPERATION - At just about every hole, the basket and next tee are perilously close. Usually they are separated by less than 30 feet.
- CHARACTER - Almost non-existent. To start, there is almost no tee shading, no seating, no practice basket, no shelter, no extra tees and no just about everything. I did however observe three hole # signs and there's a course map by hole (1) which made navigation a breeze.
- UNIQUENESS - This course scores out as the least unique I've ever played. No elevation, no water features, no skip plays, all par 3s, all short and straight putter runs.
- DIFFICULTY - Way too short for everyone but beginners and rec players. Many seasoned players will come away dissatisfied if they don't shoot 8 or 9 down.
- RAW BEAUTY - Other than a couple of nice oaks, there's nothing eye catching on the vegetation side. As for water and topographic features... nope and nope.
- WIND - Due to the lack of trees, wind will likely be a major issue.

Other Thoughts:

As of this review, my second lowest scored course. Heritage really should only be played by those who live in town, course baggers, and for reviewers needing to see what a bad course looks like. Normally for short courses similar to Hertiage Park FGC, I'll make a pro comment for "Grow the Sport." This course however, probably won't provide that type of help
