Pros:
+Innova 28-chain baskets
+Concrete teepads on every tee, installed 2015
+Lots of OB to test players' mental games
+Bar (Somewhere's Else Lounge) about 50 feet from Hole 17's tee box for your adult beverage needs
+Nice old oak trees on the back 9
+Variety of hole distances and shapes, multiple route options on most holes
+Bathrooms (not the cleanest though) close to holes 1, 3, 11, 15
+Has a river and a swampy pond for scenery
Cons:
-The neighborhood surrounding the park is not the city's best, but it's not too bad. Some people might find it slightly sketchy though.
-Hole 3 has smelly dumpster and smelly septic ooze
-Not much elevation change
-Can get muddy after rains, but the recent addition of concrete tee pads mitigates this issue
Other Thoughts:
While not quite as good as nearby Acadiana Park's Duzee course, this is a challenging course with a wide spread of scores to be had on many of the holes. If you're on your game you can shoot several strokes down but if you're off you can shoot several strokes above par. In other words, this course isn't boring. The abundance of OB may bother some players but it'll make those who want to score lower think about their shots. It's a thinking player's course and that's why I rate it pretty high. Favorite hole is #9 which features a fairway that gets thinner and thinner as it reaches the basket, requiring two excellent shots to score a 3 and punishes shots that aren't accurate.
