A good 10 hole course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 20, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

It has been five years since my first review of the original course, and over that time, I have grown more fond of the course at Imperial Park.

It features 10 holes, the first six holes have only a few obstacles, but you have to contend with the large ditch on the first few holes and the retention holes on the middle two holes. Some of the baskets are perched right on the slope of the ditch, which adds a major risk/reward if facing a death putt.

The final few holes have a large amount of brush, which adds a little bit of shot shaping and technicality that lacks on the first half of the course.

The holes have a good mixture of length. Some over 400', while others clock in below 250'. There are tee signs with distances at each of the main holes.

The course also has yellow bricks that mark the alternate holes, they add a bit more challenge and length to the main holes thought depending on the time of year, it may be tough to locate the tees.

Cons:

In the growing season, you may not find a course that has this much unforgiving brush. If you throw into the large amount of brush in the spring/summer time, you may have lost your disc. Hole 8 on the normal set of tees has the biggest risk of losing your disc. There is a large amount of clover growing near hole 4, so watch your disc carefully if playing in the growing seasons.

The baskets are not great, which normally I would not put too much weight in, but with the precarious placement on the hill, it would be nice to not have to worry about spit outs and long rolls down the hill.

Other Thoughts:

Like I said, Imperial Park is a decent course that makes the most of what the land gives it. There are some fun holes, a decent amount of elevation compared to other Houston-area courses.

I enjoy the new holes in the retention pond that did not exist before the redesign. Hats off to Eric for the redesign, it makes the course that much more enjoyable.

Good Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 28, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

well marked tees, grass maintained, great for older beginners like me. mostly open fairways so no chance of loosing disc.

Cons:

back couple of fairways through the woods are better suited for accurate players, too tight through thick wooded area.
would not want to look for a disc in there for fear of snakes
& poison ivy.
